Hello, sorry to bother you all again, but I've stumpled across some more problems!!

First off, I'm trying to remove the engine, but the last bolt is not budging! not even a milimeter

Any ideas to leverage the weight or something?

Secondly, I've read that when you remove the swingarm, the bearings (part 2 in picture below) always break. Is this true?

Lastly, this screw/bolt thing on the base of the triple tree, is there a special tool to remove this, or can I improvise something??

Thanks a lot!

This lad has a video about taking that bolt out although he had managed to remove it from the frame before hand. I can't remember how, check the previous video in his series on the GS500

You're bike looks as rusty as his so probably similar issue.

As for your third question, I think the tool you are looking for is called a Steering Stem Wrench. I think they look something like this.

Is that bolt stuck in the engine, frame, or unsure/both?

How are you currently supporting the engine? It's may be that you just need to take the engine's weight off of the bolt the same as you do with a wheel when removing the axle.

For the steering stem c spanner / hook wrench that Toner suggested, you can also get ones without the long handles that just have a 3/8" drive hole for you to attach to your normal ratchets and torque wrench.

My brother is actually going through this same issue now and has had to cut the bolt off, he managed to get the outer sleeves off but the bolt was still stuck through the engine

The middle section is actually split, if you look from underneath it only passes through around 1.5cm on each side of the engine bay, so the easiest option (and what my brother is going to do) is drill it out & replace.

Hope this helps

The engine support thing Max suggests is a good idea.

Mine got stuck and I spent ages trying to sort it. In the end I cut the two spacers off. cut the bolt off at either side of the engine casing, used a dremel cut out a section from the exposed under lower section (so i was only fighting one end at a time) then drilled though either end and using a hacksaw cut a slot then knocked out either bit. This is after spending months heating it up, laying on plusgas, drilling and everything else.

even second hand the bolt and spacers are about £45 though.

Spray the bolt itself with PB blaster or something like it. maybe hit it with a little heat before hand.

Thread nut back on the end of the bolt. get the biggest f'in hammer you can swing accurately and have it it, obviously don't swing hammer into end of bolt with no nut to protect it from mushrooming.

I've seen the engine case "crack" right here but never have I had one crack on me pushing that bolt out..

dumb question but have you tried pushing the engine UP [with a floor jack] like a couple mm to see maybe if the engine is just slouching causing the bolt to pinch?
