Hoping there is a way to fit the above with the swing arm on the bike .  My 89 gs came to me with the slider missing , i have found a good used one  but it looks like a fuss  getting it on so wonder if cutting and gluing is the answer ....  Disability means getting the swing arm off would mean getting help and i want to avoid that . Any thoughts folks

I've never replaced the chain slider or had the swing arm off. I was close once with the rear wheel and shock off.
It is a chore.
You would have to cut it to get it on otherwise, It might even hold well enough without gluing it as long as you cut it in the right place on the circle.
Although, looking at a picture of it now, it might have to be cut in three places if you don't want to take the rear wheel off.
Maybe using a low watt soldering iron with a flat tip, you could plastic weld it together once it's on or use a few black zip ties as a solder although I think it is rubber so that might not work.

Maybe you could stitch it with some fishing line?

Thanks for the reply ... at the momment  I am thinking careful cutting and gorilla glue ...  I will clean up the swing arm and rough up the surface some  and then apply the glue ... its pretty strong stuff with a bit of flex so hope it will work --- I hope to avoid taking the wheel off ....
