Ok i'm ABSOLUTELY sure this is a repost... but i have no choice! i can't find the post!!!

So, i'm going to attempt rejetting my carbs myself... i've got carb experience, just on holley's off of 60s V8 hot rods. I figure it can't be that much different.

So the bike has a drop in Uni filter, stock heat range plugs and i'm getting a V&H full exhaust. What main jets, pilots, etc. do i need to get a good setup for optimum power? ... oh yeah, and driveability?

PLEASE HELP! It's either this or i get a jet kit and do it like that. i refuse to pay someone 200 bucks and then also purchase a jet kit for someone to take carbs apart and put jets in them. shaZam!, it's not that complicated and i don't have a gf... so i have a lot of free time!

What year bike?

2000 and older - In all cases - even no mods one up on pilot (stock is 37.5 non-bleed type), one up on mains, raise needle with one #2 washer and/or raise clip one notch (non-us bikes only)

K&N in air box - one more up on main

Pods - up to 140 on mains & maybe a second washer

Exhaust & pods - 150 on mains

2001 and up - In all cases, one up on pilot (stock is 17.5 bleed type) one up on mains, one up on mid- speed jet (earlier bikes do not have a mid-speed jet)

K&N in air box - one up on main to 130 (stock is 127.5 - I believe that earlier bikes vary between 122.5 and 127.5 depending on wether they are European or US models -

Pods - 137.5~145 on main - can go up one more on the mid-speed jet and add a washer under the clip on the needle.

exhaust & pods - 147.5 ~150 depending on what you did with the mid-speed jets.

Hey mercdude... Mjm is right...
127.5 mains, 40 pilots, 1 #2 washer under needle, and 3 turns out on mix screw, float level stock... at the top of the float bowl, are what you would be best with... I think. Buy mikuni large slotted round main jets, and Mikuni non bleed pilots tucker rocky number 42-7130 I think or bike bandit number N 151-067 in the 40 size.
Cool.

Thanks guys, but i'll have to look into how much it'll be total to buy things seperately or just get a jet kit... which comes with instructions(me like instructions).

WOuld it just be easier to buy the jet kit from V&H for $80? Sounds like i'm going to spend about that much money anyways.

If i'm going to do it that way, they advertise that the kit can either be a stage I or stage III kit. If i want more performance, which one should i go with? I was thinking stage III.

Also, should i go with a pod filter over my box drop-in??? I saw a posting earlier about a $24 K&N pod filter... just wondering if it'll actually make a difference.

Thanks guys, all of you are LIFESAVERS

Oh sorry I didn't read your post right... Uni in airbox = 125 main... not 127.5. Jet kit is $35 including shipping at K&N's website, and individual jets cost you ~ 10-12 bucks... and a kit dont have a pilot.. so with a kit you still need pilots.
Cool.

Instructions... I'll give you instructions.
