GSXR 750 shock?

Hello all. I've been going through the posts here and on the Wiki, everything seems to point to the best shock upgrade is a Yamaha R6, with the Katana 600 not too far behind.

I have a line on a shock from a 2008 750 GSXR. Has anybody done this swap? This one is cheaper than any R6 I've been able to track down (and the spring is yellow, so no colour clash :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes:?

Thanks in advance.

I personally have never come across anyone (on here or the fb group) who has swapped in that new of a gixxer shock. I did a google search to see what it looks like and IMO it might work!

If nobody replies with more info, (and the price isn't too high to bargain with) I vote that you go for it and report back with what you find out 8)
Superbike bars, '04 GSXR headlight & cowl, DRZ signals, 1/2" fork brace, 'Busa fender, stainless exhaust & brake lines, belly pan, LED dash & brake bulbs, 140/80 rear hoop, F tail lens, SV650 shock, Bandit400 hugger, aluminum heel guards & pegs, fork preload adjusters, .75 SonicSprings, heated grips

I found out the hard way, so you don't have to.

It's not a simple bolt-in and ride off thing. The mounting points are 320 mm apart, or roughly 12 and a half inches, same as the GS. However, the clevis has a very thick base, so the bolt hole is 25mm, rather than the 30 mm on the GS.

A cushion lever for a 2008 GSXR would rectify that problem, except it's a little narrower than the one on the GS, so I'd need to get spacers. One thing leads to another...

Oh - and the reservoir would get in the way of the stock air box.

Posting it in the For Sale forum, if someone has more ambition than me.
