Folks, sad to say that I'm selling my GS so I can upgrade. I want to thank you teaching me so much over the past few years here. You guys bailed me out so many times, and I appreciate every bit of it. For what it's worth, this has been one of the most friendly forums for me. Below is the link for anyone interested. As I type this, I realize how hard it is to let go of this bike. I put so much time learning how to tear it down and maintain, so I feel connected to it. This is something I hadn't expected.

I sold my GS500 10 years ago... yet I'm still here lurking around.  (my partner bought one 2y ago so that perhaps got me back in the door).

Have you decided what you're going to upgrade to?  Or just test-ride everything you can get your hands on?  :thumb:

I've also been without a GS for some years, I feel this community goes beyond the simple bond of the GS itself.

Please stick around!

Yes, keep on postin your bike experiences on the forum!  Just cause you don't have a gs doesn't mean people here aren't interested!  Play the picture game!  Everybody loves pics!  :D

Yes, of course I'll stop in every once in a while. I just didn't want folks to get peeved if I wasn't responding to posts quickly. Im actually having a hard time selling the GS. I spent SO much time tuning and maintaining the engine, removing rust and repairing everything. It runs so well and is 100% functional, but the most Ive been offered is $1500. :(

Meanwhile, Ive spent many hours taking the R6 apart to fix what the previous owner left undone. Minor things like blinkers not connected, spare wires left beneath seat, battery needed charging, etc. It's a 2005 with only 14,800 miles. $3800 seemed fair for 100-115 horsepower  :0    Seems to have been maintained quite well. PO put new fairings, tires, and powder coated rims. Totally different experience riding this and working on it. The engineers made some good decisions, one being that the fuel tank does not have to be disconnected to get beneath it. The installed a long bolt in the back so when you unscrew the front bolts, you just lift up and and it swivels al the way up. Can even do it with a full tank. It is more complicated though and I have some things to learn. For example, it was my first time working on a rectifier, and I still have to service the radiator which Ive never done either. Oh and it's fuel injected which I have no idea about either. Time to dig into the service manual. Here's a pic for those interested:
