I just called the Suzuki dealership, for a quote on a new tank for my '02 gs500... $758.59 CAD (about $575 American)...  :o

I asked if that was for the whole assembly, because I figured if I bought it I could sell the gas cap or something, and he said "Nope that's just for the shell, but it comes with the stickers and everything!"

Yes, thanks... stickers make me feel soooooooo much better  :(

I'm going to cry!

You probably can buy some beat up old parts or race bike for that much and get a lot more than a gas tank.  Well, maybe not for an 02...

Of course, there's always Ebay :)

Kinda makes you wonder how they could ever make a profit by selling the original bike for the MSRP, doesn't it?

No, I don't have stuff like that memorized.  I looked it up!

I've been looking on ebay, I found an older one, but it wouldn't fit my bike... I need 01 or newer. I posted the link to the ebay one a few days ago though, and someone else from the forum bought it, so that's good.

Stupid tank :(

ya i am still picking up parts from my TLR off the road  :x

meg you can pull out the dents and have it painted, but that is going to be expensive too because auto paint is worth more than gold for some reason.

Do you know where the indy track is? Look at this map - I lost it just before turn 4. I was going along Expo Blvd, and just past Abbot street there was new pavement (right by GM Place)... and I needed to break a tiny bit, and the road was oily which I hadn't seen, and I lost it and lowsided. It happened so fast :(

Hmm, have you checked salvage yards?  I suppose it is a slim chance that someone scrapped an 01 or newer with an intact tank.

Hey Meighan, thanks for the unstated tip about "Click to see larger version" photos!  I've done it in my straight HTML pages ... why didn't I ever think to try it in my GStwin posts?  :dunno:

TESTING....225-degree view from the roof of my house.

It's probably wider than your screen, so be prepared to full-size it.

Cool!

(Oh, and ... sorry for the hijack.  :? )
