So, last night I went for a ride to enjoy the sunset and gas up my GS500F.  'Got to the gas station, filled her up, looked at my trip odometer, 151 miles, and I put in 2.91 gallons (that's 51.89 miles/gal), went to reset the trip odometer and hey!  The knob is missing!  It's gone.  What the heck!   >:(

Looks like I have to go to the dealer and order a knew knob.  Has this happened to any of you?  'Had a great ride though...

I do not believe you can order the knob separate from the entire gauge cluster. You may have to improvise and make your own.

Parts 2 and 3 here for $4.50. I didn't check prices anywhere else but this is where I usually order from. ( www.flatoutmotorcycles.com)

One twinner had a problem with these guy's shipping times (there is a a thread about it somewhere) which is usually a couple weeks but I don't mind because they are usually the cheapest.

Sweeet! Good to know. I remember people in the past having problems with that. Maybe I was thinking of the little colored lenses for the indicator lights.

Oh god I searched high and low for those stupid lenses.

I even talked to several people at Suzuki corporate offices but could not find them.

I ended up making my own from radioshack parts and gave up the search.

I see you've already ordered the replacement. But I couldn't help but think... find a GS somewhere and take their knob - just like someone took yours  :icon_mrgreen:. Eventually it'll go round back to the one who took yours cause they couldn't find it. And if they couldn't find it they mustn't be a member of this forum.

P.S. I do not advocate taking other people's stuff. Just adding some humor.

I have lost the trip knob twice  :dunno_white:.  I was ordering them from bikebandit.com.  This last time, I put a little thread lock on the screw. :icon_lol:

last time i went to set my trip odometer i realized my entire trip odometer had separated itself from whatever it was mounted to in there. unusable now, but the knob is still there, want it?  :technical:
if you can't fix it with a hammer, it's an electrical problem.

Just lost mine too. For those of you with a 3D printer, I just modeled it and made it available on Thingiverse (here). Costs a few cents to print. Hope it helps someone out there!

(Sorry for digging up this very old thread, but this is the first Google result for "gs500 trip knob")

I figure I might add my own experience on this, seeing as the thread has been bumped up anyway.
My GS came from the P/O without a trip knob at all, but I figured out that the screw that usually holds the knob on is an M2 thread, so instead buying/making a new knob I just bought a small pack of M2 copper stand-offs (ebay search for "M2 Knurl Stand Off" about 20 or 25mm long. It cost less than $2 for a pack of 10, and it works great.
