the FSM has the amount listed. Somewhere you can find a scan of it online and look.

But fork oil is usually set in terms of level, since different spacers, springs, etc. all will displace a different amount of oil. In other words, part of the volume of space is taken by oil and part by things like springs and spacers. For example, on my bike the original springs were mated to a steel tubular spacer with thin walls, and this spacer was really long. So together the spring and spacer did not displace much oil at all. But the aftermarket springs, apart from having more turns of thicker wire, which displaces more oil, were also much longer, and then I used a PVC pipe for spacer that was about 1/3 the length of the stock spacer. Altogether then aftermarket stuff displaces a lot more oil, or takes up a lot more of the space oil could otherwise fill.

So you need to set the level. If you set it with the spacer in place then there are some good guidelines. Look at Sonic Springs web site for info.

IMHO.

The stock fork oil level (measured by the air gap at the top of the forks) is 99mm according to the manual.

If you're replacing with Sonic Springs, the recommended air gap for those is 120mm (it's what I have in my forks).

If you buy a 1 Liter bottle/container of fork oil, you'll have enough to do both forks.

Hope that helps!

can you please tell like you are telling something to a spastic boy? :D

because i always just poured specified amount of oil and carried on thats why i'm confused.

Just use Google and read up on how to set oil height. It's not rocket science, motorcycle mechanics have been doing it for decades.

I think I can explain it better, sure!

You don't actually measure the oil amount or level in the forks. I can't think of a really good way to do something like that, truthfully. What you do instead is measure from where the oil level is inside the forks, up to the top opening of the inner fork tube. That's called the "air gap" because it's the space of air inside the forks, above the level of fork oil.

Watch this well-known video about GS500 fork seal replacement. If you don't wanna watch the whole thing, skip to 9:07 to watch him add the fork oil and set the air gap:

I know it's a lot easier to understand something sometimes when ya can actually see how it's done
