Has anyone installed these handlebars on their GS500?
Any advice is appreciated
I am planning on drilling holes for the control pegs.
Is there a standard angle the bars are supposed to be?
These bars are slightly thicker than stock so do you think ill have issues with tightening them or them staying in place?
Thank you!!!

They fit fine on mine. I didn't drill control holes because the nubs had already been ground off of the controls. Adjust the angle to your preference. Many people here use them.

I found a dirt bike bar a few yrs ago that was a near exact match to the GS bar - of course bike master and dirt bars come in a million shapes, fit to your liking of course - what you need is a 7/8th bar - not a 1 1/8th to 7/8th taper.

The dirt bars are aluminum, and usually anodized to some random color (could be good or bad) and are much much thicker wall. They're easier to drill as well, and you don't need to drill through, just enough to sink the nub.

The cool factor, ease of drilling and maybe a little bit of weight, and resistance to rust is basically what you gain.

I see some of em on ebay, cos obviously all this crap is made in china, so look around, you may get one to your liking.

Cool.

I use the superbike bars on my bike. Many others on this forum also use or have used them with no problems.

I just ground away the nubs on the hand controls. The controls clamp down tight enough on the bar that they don't move around. Plus, not having them tied to one particular position on the bar is nice if you ever want to adjust them, which I did.

I wouldn't worry about what the "standard" angle is, I would worry about what is comfortable for you. Even the stock bars are meant to be slightly adjustable in terms of angle.

You should not have any issues tightening them in the bar clamps.
