Went to get the bike out after sitting in the garage all winter. (2000 gs500e)

It starts up fine and idles on full choke. As soon as i take the choke off a little it immediately dies.
I have tried running it on prime and fuel on both have the same result.
I'm guessing this is likely a carburetor issue ? Gummed up or fuel is getting locked up somewhere.
Anyone else experience this?

I don't know if anyone listens to this podcast, its a bit dirty (swearing) but there is always a mine of information and there is no crap. I love it

This episode specifically deals with waking stored bikes, especially if you did not drain the carbs in the fall.

Basically strip and clean the carbs and it should be fine after.
If you are going to store the bike, either completely empty the bike of fuel in the tank, carbs and lines.  Or fill the tank and add a decent stabiliser and run the engine for a minute to push the additive through the system.  Start the bike up once/twice a month just to keep it in check.
I ride because it gives me the space to empty my mind off all that is bad and refill it with good.
