Held starter button while jump-starting the bike now can't get it disengaged

So I got a weak battery the other day and went to jump start the bike downhill, except by force of habit I've pressed the starter and got the whining noise and now starter doesn't seem to want to disengage (I assume) - I get whining sound any time I try to get the bike started (electronic and I believe push start too). Bike was parked immediately after...

Just wondering how much I may have messed up the bike and how difficult would it be to see what's causing the issue - I got driveway and regular tools but no knowledge...

The bike's 2005 w/27K on it

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys

Battery's about in the same state as I left it - probably a couple of cranks left,

in terms of sound I actually saw a video by Addidas Guy ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxS5yZ44AHU&list=PL164DA61BB1F7BF10&index=32&t=0s ) which is similar - so I'm thinking to open up the side and see if the starter thing is lose on the crank... That's my best guess for now

Save yourself money and effort, just charge the battery first and try....

It's too late to give the back story, a simple search will reveal all.
