Hi.

Currently restoring an old broken down '89 GS500, my first project. Have got the engine pretty much fully assembled (timing needs to be done) however I have one piece left over. I don't know where it goes. It's a long silver tube with a + on either end, will include photo.

Any help with be greatly appreciated, I've searched this forum and my service manual and could find nothing.

Doesnt remind me of any part....

That is the free end of the clutch push-rod. It just sits in the hole above and to the left of the front sprocket.

I actually cleaned the area around the front sprocket just a few weeks back and asked on here if this bit should be free, so it's pretty fresh in the memory!

Where did you find this diagram? I can't find a service manual with one.

Do you have the big Suzuki factory service manual? Think all these drawings are in there but I was lazy and just checked the parts fiches, available on many of the parts sites. EG Ron Ayers.

Hello again.

I've just finished sweeping the garage and found this spring on the floor.
It's pretty clean and has oil on it so i assume it goes inside the engine. I have about 2 days work ahead of me before i attempt to start the bike for the first time after rebuild.
I don't want any pieces to be missing  :D

I've looked through the parts fiches and the factory service manual but am unable to locate the part. I've also looked at other forum posts regarding engine rebuilds and couldn't see the part in there either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kyle
