Hey you beautiful people. Hope everyone is great.
Quick question. I have a GS 500. Its an 91, and I bought it 3 months back. It has 500 hundred problems. I ll just like to start it with this one.
Can you guys check this video here.

This engine is making a tick noise at each combustion. The sound is more prominent at idle.
What this could be? and what kind of repair am I looking at.
Psst there is an Easter egg here.

If you haven't, check valve clearance. While the cam cover is off, check the cam chain tension. If all that checks out, maybe an exhaust leak? Sounds like valve train to me.

What he said -
But use a screwdriver or a fancier engine stethoscope to find where its coming from.

The thing is all over the place in your clip. I hear it from the floor and everywhere.

Cam shaft end play is another possibility - but again cant tell via youtube clip.

Cool.

thanks mr72 .I do have to admit. Last time I took of the exhaust, I could'nt find any OEM or aftermarkets exhaust seals. The exhaust is sitting without a seal. And now in quarantine its impossible to find. But does any know any hack to it. I ll try and post the result back here.
Also the Buddha. I did'nt know about the screwdriver trick. Will try that as well and let you know.

Yeah So I tested by gripping the exhaust. Found it to be not sturdy and tried gripping it toward the cylinder head. Wallah the noise was gone. So now I need is to fine the exhaust gaskets. Given the quarantine that's hard. Is there any makeshift solution to exhaust gasket?

Just order it. It'll show sometime or other. Then let it sit in the sun 3 days. Virus dies and your exhaust seals up. Win win.
