Shipping?

So I found a tank!

YAY!  :)

... Only thing is, it's in the UK.

I want your guys' opinion on shipping methods (I'm in Canada). Has anyone shipped a tank, or something equivalent lately? I don't mind if it takes a long time, because I can ride with my ugly dented tank, but I would like a tracking number just so that it doesn't get lost, and so I know it's on it's way. Does anyone know of a good slow courier? Do any of the larger courier companies (FedEx, UPS, etc) have that sort of a shipping option?

Thanks!!!  :thumb:

I know FedEx does ground freight.

Welcome BTW, haven't said it before, been waiting for an excuse! LOL

Is there just supposed to be just a front page on your site, or is my browser giving me the gyp?

Both UPS and Fedex will ship it but it may have to go expidited air freight.  I know whenever we ship a package from work overseas we always have to sent it expidited.  Give them a call and ask them.  Hope you get it.

Does that mean by boat? That would be good, boats are slow, must be cheap! ;) I'll contact FedEx, thanks.

I used to have a bunch of stuff on my site, but I took it all down a while ago. Now all that's left is a few sub sites...

so then you aren't going to be wanting a tank then, I take it.  I've been meaning to ask you about your kitty cat,  how old is he? is he a he? does he do all the quirky cat things that cats do?

and for the rest of you GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF THE GUTTER these are serious kitty questions.

I won't need a new tank if I get this one, I don't think, unless I crash again...  :x

You could also try a freight forwarder.  One that we use is Panalpina.  I'm sure that they have an office in Vancouver - give them a call.  Not sure if they handle small packages like that but doesn't hurt to check.

What's a freight forwarder?? :dunno:

I've never even heard of that before *blonde moment*

A freight forwarder is a shipping company that handles overseas shipments.

I would suggest FedEx due to the fact that they are not unionized and don't have the fees involved compared to UPS. However, it would be a good idea if you can obtain quotes from both companies, as well as Burlington, and there may be a few others (Airborne/DHL). In addition, any information concerning the size and weight of the package can get you a more accurate quote, so if anybody here on the board has shipped a gas tank recently, and has the dimentions and weight of the box that they shipped the tank in, would help immensly.

You can ship FedEx Economy internationally and it is less expensive and slow (3-5 days).

UPS I'm guessing can ship Blue (2day), and definitely Red (1day), but can be horribly expensive.

Burlington, I believe speciallizes in Canadian shipments.

All of the companies have and/or provide tracking nos., but you may have to ask them for the tracking no.

Also, I just had the idea to look some of them up on the internet, as I know FedEx and UPS have websites.
