Hello Gs People..... I am tidying up my 89 gs. It has a silver frame . The paint code is 13L I think , silver metallic .... I cannot find it in the uk . It is listed on amazon but discontinued ... Anyone out there know where i could get a spray can ... Cheers and thanks as ever

Correction found some , but the robbers want  25quid for a 400ml spray can which is just silly , so looking for a fair price ... love and light

Just get a match from your local Automotive paint supplier. Too easy. Old paint codes rarely work!
Beam me up Scottie....

Hi Jools , I agree the codes are often the wrong shade as paint ages ect but in this case its pretty good , i had a can many years ago when i first had the bike and it was close enough , Just wish I could remember where i bought it - If all else fails i will just go get closeish at halfrauds or the like ...  :thumb: Cheers

Its not the cost of the paint.....its the cost of the transport.......hazardous substances. COSHH regs and all that.

I recently got a small tin of teal green met (1ZV) mixed up at the local auto paint factors for £12. They had no problem with the code and it was a perfect match.

You just need to try a few places........... but I would certainly avoid halfrauds!!!

good evening Sledge, yes a place that mixes paint would be ideal however I live about a hop skip and a jump from the end of the country and there are no such paint mixing shops here , there is one that I used about 40 miles away many moons ago  but the covid situation scuppers that so I may have to mutter darkly and grumble and generally grouch and  just cough up dammit. This evening turd polishing involved the tank and its starting to look pretty good for a clueless bodger so I have decided that near enough isnt near enough , I want the right colour paint ... Thanks for the advice

That's a magical colour, and is the correct colour for the original Katanas.

I had to source that for my Kat when I painted it, and the only brand that has the proper Suzuki colour code and correct formula is PPG in their Deltron range. No, it's not cheap.

So if you want to stay original, find your local PPG distributor and talk to them, they should be able to mix it up accurately for you  :thumb:

Hi Pete , thanks for the reply , not been on here for a spell ... I ended up getting some near enough after all and it looks pretty good ... the old 89 gs is looking decent and finally running well  after much farkling about involving shims , thicker oil , electrical gremlins solved, new paint, carb boot, new rhcoil, touch wood .... once i replace the crappy petcock it will be ready to ride to the moon and back again ( its  gone over 60k miles and is now running better than it ever has in my ownership) ... Very pleased  with it now , its smooth and has decent accelerationto 90mph  and does 100 or so which is fine for an underpowered old gruntfuttock ... Always wanted a Katana ! , maybe one day , enjoying riding this creature too much to change right now ... wierdly the biggest performance improvement was after simply changing  from 10 40 oil to 20 50 car oil without friction modifiers - I guess some of the engine/ ring wear is being filled with the thicker oil ...
