Decided to split this off from the "Hi there" thread by NorcalGS cos its well beyond the scope of the "Hi there".

Piece of cake - easy - and not even that $$$ TBH pretty nice if you did it right too -

In that everything but the tach is digital but tach I believe takes a inductive wire around the spark plug wire to get its signal I think.

That may be all digital - I dont know I never bought that one.

And my favorite - however it didn't fit my bolt and looks like I'll be cutting the wiring harness apart to get it to fit if it has to fit -

However its pigtail will fit the GS at the open end, at the guage end it has a 24 pin JAE mx 35 connector and I needed it to plug into a 16 pin JAE mx off my bolt. so it didn't work. No worries for a GS, you have a bunch of molex and that's all molex on the other (non guage) end.

So lot of the functions etc are all plug and play, some others are configurable for the GS, but others like gear position sensor, oil temp, water temp LOL etc wont work cos we dont have sensors for that. BTW you can replace the oil pressure light sending unit to a pressure sending unit - its under the ignition advancer and a sensor that sends a variable value instead of a connect or disconnect can be read by this thing and you can get a pressure reading with the original harness. BTW if there is such a thing that same type of unit can also read temperature, so you can get oil pressure and temp with no change or additional wiring or anything.

Cool.

Thanks Buddha. I'm also considering getting the DB‑01RN from Koso. Obviously a little more but also supposed to be "fairly" plug and play. I'd love to keep the traditional gauges honestly but between my "runner" and parts bike, either the gauges are effed up or the black plastic housings are effed up. Only want to go to something more modern just because I'd have a gauge in better shape.

Cheers,
Chris

Koso makes one for the bolt. I however think it looks stupid. That bottom one in the links I posted IMHO is the best looking gauge ever made. The Bolt's koso guage does something very cool, it used speed vs rpm calculations to give you a gear indication. As a side benefit that method would let you check if you have clutch slip. Anyway yea its a good guage, but IMHO these metal housing guages made in china are going to rust very very easily. I would rather it was plastic with their "quality control"

Thanks Buddha. Still trying to decide if I'm gonna take the other gauges from my parts bike that came with my purchase to get something in better shape on my runner bike or if I'm going to go with a new setup.

Almost shat myself today, first time I went to fire the bike up since I purchased it and it wouldn't fire up. Since my purchase I've swapped the headlight, adjusted the levers and handlebars and added some bar end mirrors.

Finally went through the motions and figured out that, for whatever reason, the clutch lever isn't engaging appropriately where I had adjusted it. I moved it back a little bit closer to where it was when I bought it and bike fired right up. Freaked me out.

All good now.
Chris
