Hello everyone, this is my 1st post here, I hope you don't mind, as I plan to introduce myself later.

I got my GS500 without a center stand, so I managed to get a used one from Ebay, but it came without a spring. Where I live, it's not easy to get the parts, so I need to improvise.

Could someone please write the dimensions of both springs? I plan to buy them from a machine parts store, so I'd like them to be as close to the original ones as possible.

Also, I don't understand why two springs are needed, so if you feel like it, I'd appreciate an explanation.

Welcome to GStwins.

I removed mine, because it's heavy and I never used it. For working on the bike, like adjusting the chain, etc. I use a paddock stand. They are cheap enough and much more stable than a center stand anyway.

Doubt very much you will buy an exact copy of either spring off the shelf.

Why 2?

My best guess.....A specific amount of tension is required to hold the stand upright. Rather than make and fit a single very strong spring, its cheaper to make and easier to fit 2 that provide less tension each but together provide the required amount.   :dunno_black:

When you need to work on it or need a center stand for whatever reason, you can fit it on without spring and take the center stand off when done. I doubt you'd get a specs on the springs from anyone. Mostly we all hate center stand except when we need to work on it.

Cool.
