like the topic sais, my bike runs very nice when i just start it and warm it up for a minute but when i ride for about 20 mins the bike runs worse....kind of loses power a little and the throttle response is slow

could this be fixed by adjusting the mix screw?

thanks

dgyver

Typical of being rich.

Depending on where the loss of power is:
full throttle: smaller main jet
midrange: lower needle
low end: lower floats (with the carbs upside down)

Try lowering the floats first.
Common sense in not very common.

so the float's are too high?

i did notice that they are high a little (u tube method) but only about 1.5mm and they are both the same

also, i just topped out at 105 mph  :(

so if i want to lower the float hight, if the float's are high when using the u tube method which way should i put them when the float bowls are off and the carbs are upside down? if they are at 15 mm when i measure should i put them to 14 mm or 16?

thanks guys

16...has yer bike been modded? Just wonderin' if maybe your choke is sticking a little bit closed. Well, love the little thing and cherish this forum.

yeah i got mods....that's why i know it's not supposed to top out at 105 and 9000 rpm

rejetted with 150 mains and 40 pilots.....exhaust, 15t sprocket, advanced ignition and k&n pod filter

OK 9500 is the peak you will ever make in 6th, top speed, try fifth... You'll prolly pull 11K+ and 110+. Making that 9500 max in 6th also is not a given... doubt you'll make more even with perfect float setting... Btw you'll have to bend the metal tang the float needle rests on down wards with the carbs upside down to put less fuel in the bowl. 1.5 mm is almost a Jet size rich, but I dont think at WFO is makes too much diff. Open pipe, K&N filter etc all help, but wear and engine power are really going to steal the show in the top speed run... my 89 will never make that kinda speed... It just has too much loss.

it might not help me with top speed but at least the acceleration because i did notice that it runs slower than before

so if the float bowl right now is about 15 mm high i should put it to 14mm?
