Hi

I was hopping that someone could help me figure out a problem that I have been getting, There is this problem that I think is an electrical issues but I'm not fully sure.

*PROBLEM*
So basically what's happening is that sometimes when I would go out for a ride, the bike would start up normally but sometimes when I turn the key, all the lights work and everything but then I would go and press the ignitions button nothing would happen but then the bike turns over and starts up no problem after pressing it like 10 times and it happens randomly but I just brushed it off to just a loose connector but recently after I start the bike and warm it up and like 1-2 minutes into my ride I would just lose power and no throttle response and then I would get the, "no start" problem but its able to start again after pressing the ignitions button like 10 times again.

*WHAT I HAVE DONE*
I have fully redone the fuel lines, refurbished the fuel petcock and also replaced the fuel tank petcock, cleaned the carbs, changed the spark plugs and the problem still persistence. I have bought a multimeter but I cant check the resistance because the cylinder block is getting resurfaced because of the compression and oil leak problems.

if anyone had a simular problems and knows what is causing it be would much appreciated.

Thanks.

I had an intermittent starting issue with my GS and like you pushing the starter a bunch of times eventually had it starting, mostly. There was no click from the starter solenoid, nothing. Pulling the right switch block off and servicing the starter button fixed it. I cleaned the contacts and removed the gunk from the spring recess and stretched the spring a little. I was pleasantly suprised that Suzuki made it an easily servicable item.

Hope that helps.
You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

one time my bike woulden't start but then smoke started coming from the solenoid because the contact wasen't too good so I cleaned the contacts and that fixed it but then a few weeks later I started getting the problem that I have now, I'mma try to clean the contacts up again

thanks for the advise

beware that wiring from the handswitchs isnt being pinched somewhere, like the forks, common problem if the bike was rebuilt and the cable routing is wrong
