OK this is for my eliminator... more of an academic question... cos i am almost sure what I should do.
On the O2 sensor its very very rich... its consistently making 1000+ millivolts... 500 is the perfect spot. Its Rich (1000+) at 3K and 1/4 throttle and at 6K at 1/2 and at 7K... not run more than 7K in top gear.
So can anyone tell me what circuit I should start with...
Cool.

it's really one of those ....pick one
probably best to start with the main and pilot and hope you can work with the needle you have

Its linear... at idle its 1000, 3K 1000, 6K 1000 and 7K 1000... mkaing it main jet... cos remember that straight line they show in the main jet influence in that factory tuning giude...
Cool.

could there be something wrong with the sensor, or does the motor act like its running rich, too?

but at idle...the main circuit is not working....
at WFO the idle ckt isn't working and in the middle....both have a hand in the game

Werase: Its linear = main jet, and the main does have a hand in the idle. If you dont have the right main jet and change it ... the idle (air screw) will have to be changed every time you change mains. Its better to set mains first then start setting evryhting else... however... if your idle is so far off and your low speeds are really off, you wont even get out of your driveway to test ride it... hence a jetting formula as a strating point... You want to converge on the right spot... in a couple tries... they jets all have to be quite close. If you start out so far away... you'll take a long time to converge, and might not ever get there.
Goat: Its not exactly acting rich... Its low in power compared to winter... yes it made a lot more power in winter, it also is giving me a bit poor gas mileage...
Cool.

This is from a car (MR2) site, but it sounds similar. That and consistant readings from sensors make me suspicious.

Quote from: http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/O2_Sensor.htmlHow do I know if my O2 sensor may be bad?
If your car has lost several miles per gallon of fuel economy and the usual tune up steps do not improve it. This *is not* a pointer to O2 failure, it just brings up the possibility. Vacuum leaks and ignition problems are common fuel economy destroyers. As mentioned by others, the on board computer may also set one of several failure "codes". If the computer has issued a code pertaining to the O2 sensor, the sensor and it's wiring should be tested. Usually when the sensor is bad, the engine will show some loss of power, and will not seem to respond quickly.

OK the O2 sensor is only in the pipe and connected to my millivolt meter... its not managing the fuel circuit... the thing is carbureted... simple like the GS. I am reading it to determine what my mixture is like... cos the bike is extremely sensitive to mix composition... The Gs can be 1000+ millivolts and run fine... If I overshoot on it I'll feel it... Hell I have seen the Gs with over 1000 and it simply didn't make any diff, except in gas mileage maybe. On this If I have to ride to texas or arizona... it will run like crap. Every degree it gets hotter the worse it will run...
Cool.

whoops    maybe I should think a little harder next time.

I was wondering how it was that you didn't come up with the oxygen sensor thing. I suppose the whole lack of an O2 sensor aboard the bike would explain it.

ok MR DUMA....
IF you know the answer.... why did you ask?

I am reminded of what I learned....get it running at WFO and work your way back

if this is/was a good running bike?????
why are you screwing with it?
if it is messed up where is it worse?
if the O2 sensor reads 1000mV or what ever all the time....is it a problem?

Ok why mess with it is a good question... however its low on power... mind you its only noticeable if you have spent extensive time in the saddle at the high and low points... and funkily on this bike power affects handling... and that this bike cannot even give up a 1000 th of...  :x .
Ergo... its got to be spot on for jetting or I'll land on my whiney complaining fat ass...
