hi everyone, I'm a newbie and I'm taking my first big (for me!) road trip tomorrow. I'm driving from dublin to cork it's about 250km each way. Just wondering if any of you have any advice, tips or suggestions for the trip. My bike is new, 3 weeks old, still being broken in. It's got 650km on the clock. Should I be looking out for anything or bringing anything in case of emergencies?? I'm just wondering about oil, will I need to do anything with it or check it (sorry newbie question I know but it's better to ask right?). Also a bit worried about pain in my behind!!
ps this site is brilliant! :thumb:

just check it every time you fill the tank and you will be fine.  the hardest part of riding long distances is keeping your mind occupied, if you get bored than you wont  pay attention to the road and will get hurt.

Best advice...enjoy!  I was over there at easter, rode down from Rosslare to Cork to visit relatives.

The bike should be fine if it's that new, only thing I'd suggest is lubing the chain before you go, and stopping off at least twice to give yourself a rest.

Even if you don't feel tired, take a break anyway and allow plenty of time.

Maybe think about a walkman or similar to give yourself something to listen to, it's a 4 hour-ish ride isn't it?  I personally my mind wanders through boredom if I don't have something to listen to on longer rides!

Hope this isn't too late for you to read before setting off.  If it is, let us know how it went!  And have a look at www.gs500e.co.uk.  It's the British version of this site.
