that's how i look at it too....my biker friends ride big bikes, 600's, 750's, 1000's and 1 hayabusa......i know they run all the time but what am i supposed to do? outrun him in a corner? in windsor we got no corners  

I have several times in my younger days on my 88 ZX-10. Twice at the same place, same time and back to back nights. I was doing 90+mph on the interstate (65 at the time). Took it well past 140, had to since he was catching up at 130.

Ugh, why'd you have to link to that board?  That's five minutes of my life I'll never get back.

ive had to run a few times, 90 in a 35 mph zone, he flicked on his lights and i hit 120 as fast as possible and just went for a good hour in circle after circle, just trying to make sure i was being tailed

To run, you either need:
1. extreme speed, a machine gun to shoot down helicopters, and poison to take when captured.

2. knowledge of the area, with all it's hiding places.

3. to be very close to home

4. lots of luck(and places to hide)

1 was cruising on my busa about 150 with my wife on back... passed a cop - only i didn't realize it (unmarked) he flips on his lights and then just shuts them off as i disapear over horizon.... I didn't even know i had just outrun him untill the offramp when my wife told me.... lol!

Anyway, I was always wondering about running from cops... if they know they can't catch you do they usually radio in and report you?  Any police on the forum that can answer that? ..."ifonline"?

My bro was telling me about one of his coworkers that got a new bike (don't know what kind) and took it out on the highway to test its limits.  He was doing almost 300km/h when he noticed a cop pulled over doing radar and decided the hell with it and kept going.  About 10 min later he came up to a road block set up for him (straight highway, they knew where he'd be).  Turns out the cop doing radar couldn't get a clear reading so he got off with either a warning or small wreakless driving ticket or something.  Lucky guy, heh.

We have a stretch of road that has a speed limit of 65 MPH and it is mostly straight. There are numerous traffic lights to deal with, and the intersections without traffic lights just have stop signs for crossing traffic. It's a dangerous stretch of roadway, to say the least.

That being said, our traffic unit (of which I am a former member) has modified Crown Victoria patrol cars. I won't go into great detail how they've been modified, but they are not the "standard" police package. These cars will scoot. Couple that with four traffic officers stepping all over each other on this particular stretch of road, and backup is always nearby.

So, I'm running RADAR or LASER on this stretch of road and I clock a motorcycle over 80 MPH. I'm going to try and stop it. It won't be a flip on the blues and immediately turn them off type of deal, either. I'm going to bootleg so I don't lose sight of the bike, hit the lights, hit the siren, call for assistance (which is probably ahead of the bike), and stomp on the gas. If you run, I chase. In my department, there are only three things that will end a chase: I run out of gas, I catch the vehicle, or the vehicle crashes.

I never run out of gas.

This isn't a challenge. I'm simply giving you my perspective on catching a vehicle (in this case, we're talking about a bike). I'll radio ahead, radio to nearby agencies, and hunt for the vehicle relentlessly. Anyone stupid enough to run from the police, risk their lives and the lives of other drivers (and pedestrians) will be caught.

What kills me most about all of this is that if the bike rider just stopped in the first place, they would most likely just get a ticket and be on their way. Heck, they might not even get a ticket. Why would you want to risk killing yourself over that?! I'll never understand.

And "will be caught"?  :lol: What a joke. Bikes are SO easy to hide. Try to imagine a biker watching and laughing as you vultures circle for a kill that doesn't happen.

Common guys... Ian's just doing his job!    We pay him to do his best to keep order in our society and that doesn't mean he should let every dangerous driver go just because it might be a little dangerous to catch them.  If someone wants to run, they should then expect that the police will chase them and thus the whole persuit is their fault.  Most police won't directly endanger innocent people's lives; they do everything they can to avoid that.  Some of you guys need to relax a little.

if i run i do expect the police to chase, but i still think they're assholes for doing it, for a few reasons, one, is when a bike takes off, it's not going to stop, the first time i ran it wasn't on purpose, i saw the lights, and took off, the second i hit the gas i wished i hadn't, but as soon as you hit that point, there's no stopping, and with a cop knowing this, that means the only hope he has in chasing, is that the person on the bike crashes, a cop that worried about the community wouldn't be willing to put a kid through that just because he got out of a speeding ticket,

second is it's one thing to go flying through traffic on a bike, because the majority of the risk is on you, if something happens, you're gonna be the one who gets hurt the most, and i under stand this in any kind of riding situation, but a cop car, and not a honda civic, cops drive the biggest cars they can find, when that thing plows into the side of a car, it's gonna cause some damage, so either way, if a cops gonna chase down a kid on a bike hoping he crashes, i'm gonna hope a cop tries to chase me down, and ends up crashing, cause with his logic, it'd be completely his fault,

i know you said if he just stopped he'd probaly just get a small ticket or warning, and be on his way, and that's what i thought when i started riding, but after you get pulled over 3-4 times for no reason at all, and it's just the cop looking to give you shaZam! and hope to find you don't have your bike inspected, or something like that, you get tired of it, i'm not saying if cops were the nicest guys on earth i'd always stop, but if they're gonna be dicks, forget about it, and i have met nice cops, so i don't need to hear that whole speech, but seriously, if it was the safety of the public the cop was interested in, he'd shut off his lights, and radio ahead, if the kid gets away, big deal, it's nothing more than a power trip and too much testoterone, if you put someone in a car, with a gun on their belt, and tell them they're in charge, they're gonna turn into a duck, there's no way around it,
