So, it finally happened, I dropped the bike.  Put it up on the centerstand, turned around to fill a bucket with water to wash it, 30 seconds later out of the corner of my eye, the bike begins falling, and I can't catch it in time.  I have no idea why it took so long to fall over, but I got off relatively easy:

damage to my beautiful blue 2004 GS500F:

scratch on front right fairing, ordered touch up paint to fix
right mirror snapped off
right handlebar has some scratches on the very end of it
turn signal has some scratches, and dislodged

I can handle fixing everything but the turn signal it seems.. the force of the impact popped the turn signal housing back into the fairing, and i can't seem to push the rubber back out to lock the turn signal back into place.. it's kinda rotating freely since the rubber part is now on the inside of the fairing.  not sure if this is making sense or not.. I've tried to force the signal back through the fairing, and can get about half of the rubber part out, but not the rest.. it stays in place, but I really want to fix it 100%.  putting too much force on it worries me due to the possible cracking of the fairing.

how best to go about fixing this?  remove the fairing/signal entirely, then try to jam it back on, thinking i may be able to get a better angle on it? (i.e. forcing it from the inside instead of trying to pull from the outside)..

hopefully coleman has some mirrors in stock, going up during my lunch break tomorrow to hopefully get a set.  i should probably be thankful this drop will cost me less than $50 to fix, but it's pretty frustrating.. my poor baby. :~(

Welcome to the club.  That's one drawback to having a faired bike.
Sorry I don't have any helpful hints on repairing the signals.  I have flushmounts on the front of my TT600, and I haven't dropped it yet to encounter any problems of that sort.  But I would hate to force something &crack the fairing too.

The turn signal grommet... ok from the inside is easier, and wihotut a T/S sticking through it is easier... and most of all... spray that area with wd 40... that T/S shaft, the fairing, and the grommet should all be lubed up so everyhting wants to slide around... Most katana's are that way... just slick it up and shove it into place... But the plastic may be very thin... and might make it hard...
Cool.
