Looking for phone numbers for my trip across country

During the trek across country with the two bikes in tow on my truck and a Uhaul trailer on Anne's car we may end up having an emergency of some sort and it might be good to have a few phone numbers of anyone along the way.

Our journey will take us down 90 to ohio, then 71 to st Loius, then 40 to Phoenix.

If anyone here is along this route and would like to PM me their phone number just to have in case of an extreme emergency I would appreciate it. I really don't know anyone along the route and if the trailer dies I might need to leave a bike behind and come back for it later. Or god knows what could happen on the way.

Just asking. Thanks!

Hey John!

Any particular reason for going through Louisville and Nashville and Memphis and Little Rock?  I'll show you why I ask....

Here's your proposed route (I think):

Here is the shortest route (but it takes you thru New York City -- Yuck!):

And here is a happy compromise.  An extra 30 miles for not going thru NYC (worth it?) but overall you cut off 150 miles:

If there are things you want to see along the original route, 3 hours over a period of days isn't that much.  But if you just want to GET THERE...!  :dunno:

Hmmmm.  Those last 2 routes DO include a ~170-mile turnpike from Joplin, MO to Oklahoma City.

Anyway, if you need any help with KOA Kampground or Motel 6 or Super 8 locations, let me know!  I've got the books....

BTW - If anyone is interested there is a copy of Streets & Trips 2003 on ebay with a Buy-It-Now price of $19 plus $6 shipping.

Did you guys see the MMI announcement in a recent issue of Cycle World?

They're holding a contest for a free 57-week course.  The application involves a 2-minute creative(?) video saying why you want to be a motorcycle mechanic ... or something like that.

I'll try to remember to scan it in tonight.

yeah It is beautiful I was there in June, f**king cold too. ( I was in Vail around midnight,  Denver about 3 hours later  there was about a eightth of a inch of frost on everything.
MANDATORY detour through NC:  we have some of the best motorcycling roads in the US it's a good 600 miles out of the way but it's worth it.

Actually, I really WOULD like to visit NYC someday (besides just the JFK airport... ) but not if I'm just rolling through on my way somewhere else.

Hmmm.  How'm I gonna DO that?  :dunno:
