I am still new and probably couldn't answer taht one. But I rejetted anyway. The stock bike comes with a lower # jet and my bike was jsut not running right. high revs. So after further searchign the forums and suggestions from other members, I rejetted

#40 pilot jets and #125 main jets.

It seemed to work and fix my problem. the bike runs great

The bike is not that sensitive to a pipe be it a full system or slip on. 1-2 jet sizes max on the top, and 1 size up on pilots - which is mandatory even with stock pipe cos they made the bike with 40's in all countries... except US, and the US bikes are so damn lean at idle and low end they are un reideable. So with a pipe... you are only looking at maybe 2 seconds added work in the carbs compared with what you have to do anyway even with the stock pipe. If you toss the airbox and put on K&N's then its 150 mains. Once again if you decide the setup, its not really any more work than stock just as far as carbs and jets are concerned.
Cool.

hehe, thanks for being patient here...   :)

um, and so removing the airbox and adding a K&N as well as upgrading to a V&H exhaust system will do what exactly for my GS? More horses? Louder? Screw my gas mileage to below that of a Humvee?  :dunno:

Anyone have a yoshimura slip on for our bike? I'm thinking bout adding this to my bike and if money was no object i would get the full exhaust, but since i haven't won the lottery yet, i will have to settle for just a slip on. Any advice on the yoshimura?

Don't think Yoshi makes a full one for GS anymore. Let me know I'm wrong cuz I want one.

How much difference power-wise does the yosh slip-on make compared to stock if you already have a jet and K&N? Is it actual power or just pretty shinies and noise?

OK Mileage wont suffer that much if you ride the exact same way... of course its much more fun so you'd stretch out the throttle cable more after rejet pipe and filter. I'd say 10% is your likely loss.
Power... Ok 10 % or so gain after rejet and clamp on K&N in place of airbox.
Yosh doesn't make afull system, AFAIK, but they may start now that the F is out, but a good Yosh can on stock headers will work very similar to the full system, unless you are racing it... in any case the head ports especially the exhaust are so small and restrictive... I'd be surprised if even on a race bike a full system makes any differnce, of course flow the head and put in fancy narrow stem valves and port it some and the exhaust port flows like 200% better... and you need the full yosh. Stock bike on the street... I doubt it.

Flea bay... just buy a slip on type can for any bike and make a adapter for the GS... a GS can also is a larger diameter inlet pipe... so same problem... trt not to get a flange type can that bolts on... though people have got that to work too.
Cool.
