I just bought myself new boots!!! Blue Vertebra 2 Carbon from Sidi.

I'm excited!

My current boots are Alpine Stars, and I love them... but they are waterproof and have extra padding, so they are soooooooooo hot to wear in the summer... great winter boots, but I needed something for the hot sunny days.

I love shopping! :)

Does anyone else have these Sidi boots? Do you like them?

i have Sidi Strada Evo Tepor boots. warm, which = smelly. but they're really comfortable. i've walked around for a few hours on them, even in grass and stuff and they've never gotten uncomfortable (which is great, cause i've got a really messed up left leg that less than tolerates new shoes)

Lots of racers use them. Very good boot.

I bought Oxtar TCS Evo Ti.

They have an extra brace to protect the toes, since I busted my foot last year.  Very nice, but I've been riding them around town trying to break them in and the are very squeeky and noisy becasuse of the overlapping armor & braces.  Oh well.

Do the Vertibra's squeek when you walk in them?

I have a pair of the Vertebra II, last years model, so no carbon. They're more comfortable on the bike than walking around. If you get the squeeks from the heel/ankle plates, hold the boot upside down and rub a a little olive oil with your finger on the exposed area where it overlaps when extended.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Yeah I hear ya.. I'm just a couple hours from you up in Raincouver. It's been so nice lately though..... so I really wanted a second pair :)

I'll save the waterproof alpine stars for when I really need 'em ;)

I've heard various reports thats its bad to wear steel-toed boots. Supposedly in crashes the toe of the shoe gets bent back and the steel cuts the person's toes off  :o . Since I heard that I've stopped wit the steel-toed work boots and just wear ankle coverin plain Doc's instead.

so i've heard the same thing, but here's the flip side.  i can have my toes cut off, and then have them sewed back on, or i can have my toes crushed to mush, and never have them again.  given that choice, i'll take a clean slice, and stitch job over mush in my boots.

also based upon docs meeting osha standards, they can withstand a fair amount of pressure and force, you'd have to lay your bike down on your toe cap, then have a truck park itself on there too.  i'm really not too worried about it.  and hey, like i said, i'm tough.   :)

OK I guess its time to stop eating while I read these threads!   :o

But.. I nearly got those boots.  But the price scared me away.  You'll have to let me know how you like them.  Maybe they will be my next boot after I get to move on to the next bike.

Sheesh, if I could afford boots and gear like some of the people like to wear I could probably afford to get an Electraglide. Luckily the gear I have worn in the past has pretty well "covered my A**"  Seriously, nice boots, look like they'd even work anywhere in the Solar System. Love the baby G and the forum.

I'm tapped out after buying all kinds of new gear and sprockets and chains so i just wear my paratrooper syle jump boots with the zippers up the sides.  Too bad I was never a paratrooper.

The last I heard, the OSHA standard for safety toe footwear is that they withstand a 50 lb. weight being dropped from something like 10" or so.  Maybe even less.  I just remember it wasn't much at all compared to whay my feet "could" come in contact with at work.  I rode to work sometimes and had to wear my work boots.  The steel toes kept me from feeling the shifter very well.  I didn't like wearing them.  Luckily, work was only 3 miles away and I didn't have to put up with it for very long.
