Budget about 400 bux extra for the factory lowers!!!! I finally got my lower fairings and installed them last weekend.   Wow... do they make a difference in the bikes overall appearance.  The added wind protection will be nice when the fall temps arrive, too.  I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!  After 1300 miles my only compaints are the small, hard seat, the soft front suspension (not NEARLY as soft as the GS though), and the sliiiightly wanting roll on power (if there was an SV800 or SV850 I would be on that thing in a heartbeat).  So what do you guys think?





In other news, the GF is sold on the GS500, so it looks like I may be adding a GS to the stable once again this fall or next spring... I'm excited about having another GS

agreed.  I'm waiting a while on other mods so that I can research them thoroughly and be sure I know what I want to do/not do and which option I'm going with.  Thankfully, the 04 fenders actually are smaller than the 03's.  The 03 fender could be used as a surfboard its so big  :lol:

Just so ya'll know, there is an SV1000. You can get it naked or half-faired, and i'm sure the lower for the 650 will fit the 1000 so you can have a Killer Big Twin fully faired. The new SV's (650 or 1000) also look awesome with just a chin spoiler. I have a friend with an SV1000 naked, and it looks AWESOME with just a chin spoiler (or airdam, whatever you wanna call it). That thing is so mean lookin with just a peek of that killer 1000cc V-twin showing. :mrgreen:

It does look much better fully faired.
But then I am not fond of half faired bikes. Either be completely naked or fully clothed.

And yeah, cut that dang fender off!

Get a high-mount exhaust for that beast! That would make it look even better. Vanity plate "SQDBTR".  

The link below is for a guy that will be clock over 100,000 miles in the next week or so.  I changed the oil on my DL650 today.  I don't thing it burned more than a few ounces.  I did not have to add any in 3,500 miles.

Looks good. Might I suggest a Yoshimura pipe! Its the best sounding I've ever heard on an SV....really beings out the nice rumble of the v-twin.

The Yosh sounds nice and is very clean looking bu the M4 pipes make a little more power and usually a little cheaper.

I had a full M4 system on the race SV I built. IMHO, it sounded better than the Yosh.

I've heard that too-the M4 is the pipe to get for most power. Best for track junkies or racers but the combined beauty of the Yosh tri-oval in addition to the sound make it an unbeatable package. Can you really tell the difference in power between the two? I doubt most would. Given that, I'd opt for beauty AND sound.

IF you like the Tri-oval. To each is own.

I agree that the average street rider would never notice any minor power advantage of one over the other, only on a dyno or real racing. I have owned Yosh & M4 exhuasts, their quality of construction is equal. Since I am having to replace the Yosh exhaust on my TLR, itis going to be a M4.

Yup... I hate that trioval... In fact I just recently even warmed upto the oval. The round is stillmy favorite... As small dia as possible, like my friends R1's micron...

I've heard alot about both exhausts.  The M4 seems to be the consensus best for sound, but many go with the Yosh RS-3.. I suppose because Yosh makes the exhausts for Suzuki's race bikes.

Personally, I'm gonna wait for a bit for two reasons...

1. I don't wanna piss off the neighbors with too much low-rev noise, so I need to be very careful about which can I chose.

2. The 04 subframe is 40mm lower than the 03, a fact that many exhaust manufacturers have not yet seemed to notice.  So many of the "03-04" cans really only fit the 03 model  

I'm thinking I'll give it a season with the stocker on.  She's got some good grunt when the throttle is wide open, but is nice and quiet for sneaking out of the neighborhood without getting any complaints.

Glad your liking the SV Vtlion. If you remember back a little I went out and bought a SV650S 2002 model with 126miles on it. It had sat for awhile in a garage and ran like cr@p. I have since had the carbs apart, added a shim and it's running great lowend. I've been working so much lately I still haven't got it past the 600mile break-in, so I don't know how smooth the power is upto redline.
Do you get pops from the exhaust? I get them at idle, more so on deceleration. My A/F mixture is set at 2 1/2 turns out, i'm thinking I may need to experiment with this a little more.

On a side note I got my first ticket yesterday. A cop gave me a $112 fine because I didn't put a foot down at a stop sign. I just slowed up, did the stop and balance then took off again. He was a new one, had to look at his notes as to which copy of the ticket he was to give me.
