Has anyone tried this with an exhaust?

So I was looking for a good price on a Cobra muffler and not having much luck.   Then the idea came to me, what about the stock muffler off of another bike.  Maybe off a GSXR or something that is designed to be sportier and handle a higher volume of exhaust gasses.  I know the bracket may or may not line up, and I am sure there are ways around that too.  Does anyone know if this sort of mod will allow the engine to breath better?  Thanks in advance.

There been a few to do this. Most any slip-on will work. The stock can is very restrictive. I have noticed that most cut off the header a foot or so past the Y connection of the 2 down pipes. Easier to fab a connection but this still leaves the smaller diameter pipe.

Whenever I get around to modding one, I plan on cutting it back all the way to the Y and continue with a 2" mid pipe. Most GSXR & SV slip-on's use 2" or 2-1/8" diameter pipes respectively. Plus I have a couple on M4 cans off a SV that I plan to shorten for this project.
Common sense in not very common.

Interesting.  I might go looking for a stock GSXR or SV can then.  I would love to get a V&H system, but it simply isn't in the budget.  Back to ebay!!
