Do you take a camera?

Seems like there's always a need for photos (reading the road rash thread - Ouch!!! sorry dude!! ) and a couple of other ones. Does anyone take a camera with them when they ride? I've seen some cool stuff that I could kick myself not having one around...  My camera phone is great, but I don't want to buy the cable to download the pics. I would love to get a cheap digital camera, but I also don't want to lug the thing around either, my jacket storage is really, REALLY small!

Anyone do this, or is it just another one of my crazy ideas?

A place to put a camera was requisite for my tank bag.  Although snapping pretty pictures was part of it, there's also a practical use - if I'm hit, I want to document the scene.

I try to bring my camera with me, but it eats batteries faster than I ever thought possible (~20 mins with good, freshly charged NiMH rechargables, LCD off) so it doesn't come with me all the time.

I never used to, but lately I've starting taking one. I have a digital camera, but I don't like to take that out on the bike unless I have a backpack with me and I know it isn't going to rain. But I did buy a disposable camera and slips easily into my riding jacket's pocket. I figure it is there if I want/need it, and if something happens to it..I'm out $5

My Kodak has its own Li battery - although I'm often leery of proprietary batteries, this one is awesome at holding a charge.  And it's not lost a discernable amount life over a lot of use and recharges.

Why?   :dunno:   It's convenient, doesn't stretch and rip like jacket or pants pockets, doesn't bang around/break/scuff stuff like jacket or pants pockets, and in an off, stuff in a tank bag will fare better than stuff in pockets.

Hmmm.  I don't leave home without my tank bag either    but the camera is usually in an inner jacket pocket.

I'm looking for a tank bag that has a smaller pocket on top that would elevate and hold my video camera so I could make an instructional DVD on "How to ride like a complete noob"  

Just joking about that last part, but I would like to get a bag for the dig video camera. Anyone know of a good one that will clear my bars and get me a good shot if there are things in the bottom pocket lifting the camera, drop me a line.

on my zrx there is mega storage under the seat - i can fit a gallon jug of milk in there!

on this little gs - there's barely enough room for the toolkit!

i won a tank bag at a motorcycle shop raffle and never had a use for it since everything fits in the zrx. good thing i did not give it away b/c i use it on the gs all the time. i usually have my palmpilot (with built-in camera) and i have a digital video camera with suction cup mounts.

forgive the long winded explanation - to answer your question, yes i carry a camera.

ps - i also carry along a cigar lighter and a leather holder for 3 rubustos

I made a handle bar mount for my digital video cam (its a tiny little sony) It uses a tripod type screw in mount and lifts it up center above the gauges. I will take a pic soon

Either a screw handlebar mount or suction cup is the way to go.  There's too much give/vibration in a bag for a steady mount.

Yes, that is money. Care to provide me with details? I have a Sony TRV-350 which is relatively small and would be perfect for this type of jobby. Excellent, says Burns.

Ginoe you're a good man! Cigars are a perfect accessory for your bike Now if I could only work out how to keep my butane with me (cause I have to refill my darn lighter all the time) without me or it or the bike blowing up then I would be golden...

If we realize we forgot one, we go buy one..

i always take my digi unless its a short trip near home.  i even carry a tripod in the trunk of my car just in case!

I love my Digital Rebel but being a SLR it is a pain to carry around on a bike unless going somewhere with good photo oppertunity.



I could buy a point and shoot but I really don't want two cameras :dunno:

unless u have insurance on the rebel, get a point and shoot.  most of the time i carry my cheap hp point and shoot but when i know im gonna get good shots i'll take my nikon.  i wouldnt risk ruining an expensive camera unless u knew u were gona get something good
