Im going to paint the tank and fender, as well as the rear plastics...

Question is ...how do flames look on the gs? Anyone have pics of it? I am painting it gloss black, thinking of silver or a red to yellow type flame.
I think I will just use vinyl flames and clear over it all...

Any input?

on an F, or an E with some type of fairing, it might look ok.  In a naked GS?  IMO it would look pretty stupid.  But it's your bike, so do whatever you want.  If you have them do the vinyl on top of the clearcoat, you can always change it later.

Its an E

I wouldnt clear it obviously until i knew i liked it ..lol

I think it would look good, but only with a soft subtle flame, not the hard edged vinyl flames that you plan on using.

Flames would look good on an E.  But only if you're a professional painter.

I'd say 9 times out of 10, when a regular joe tries to paint flames, it looks like a 3 year old did it.  I don't care how careful you are.  Unless you've done it like 100 times, it is going to look like crap.

I'd use vinyl but I would not clear over the vinyl.

There was a guy that did red flames on a black Honda 919 last month in one of the bike mags.  Looked good!  Sort of.

I think it would look good on an E - but I'd go with subtle colors. I like the black and silver idea.
