i have tried and tried to do them, with the gs500, but the thing never left the ground.  i finaly found out how to pop one and ride it for a couple feet.  very fun.  what is the longest you have rode a wheelie for?  and what gear did you get up to

my longest was about 5 feet and never got out of first gear.

I have only did maybe 2 or 3.  While going along in 2nd gear I downshift into 1st, lean back and give it hell and carried the front wheel for a few feet.

I have only done one on accident, almost got rear ended sitting at a light and when they didn't show signs of stopping I got worried and looked way ahead no one was at the intersection.  Watched and they kept coming, then screeching, Took off as quick as i could, probably up for about 12 feet or so, not far but i was glad i saw them coming.

Thats why i leave my bike in gear at lights, even long ones now, unless a car is stopped behind me already.

I've done 2-3 stupid little ones, just to see if I could. I do the 1st gear roll, clutch, rev to like 9k, and dump clutch sort of deal. It comes up a little and if I give it the right amount of throttle at the right time I can ride it a little bit. Not sure of measurements but either way it was kinda fun the first time or two but it's not really my thing. It's cool it can be done with the GS though  :thumb:

I've had the front end get light on me a few times. The wheel MIGHT have come up a little, but I can't be certain. It was an interesting sensation, to say the least.

I've done a few wheelies and even one while sitting on my tank  :) that was scary though, I don't know about doing that any more ..

I've probably gone about 15 feet with the wheel up in first gear..

1st through 4th for a minute? WOW that is a shocker. I just find that hard to swallow on this bike. Unless you got the thing at nearly a 12 o' clock. Then perhaps. Then we have the all the way through 4th issue. That sounds tough man.

Anyone know where can I get a good deal on a 15 tooth front sprocket for my 97 gs?

11 o clock and 14t sprocket, its easier when your standing and aswell as being able to juggle the throttle you can throw your weight back or forward. On my RM125 I can go up to 6th and then downshift all the way back down to 1st in a wheelie, and on the RM I can keep it up for alot longer as it's lighter and I can get more control out of it.

I forgot to mention if I'm shifting through gears in a wheelie I sometimes end up revving the shaZam! out of my engine in 1st to get the balance point right.

I never considered the sprocket change. Cudos man. I always get people yelling at me to wheelie, but I won't. I don't feel the need to show off, and even more so, I DON'T WANT TO BE THAT GUY who wheelies and wrecks. That would suck. I have too much into my bike for that.
