Well today I had to try something.  So I managed to find some screws and screw about 9 of one kind in the heel and 4 of another in the other heel. To compare.
Well it worked! It was cool. I didn't stand on the side of the bike like in the movie, I just put my heels down while riding. Sparks flew about 6-18 inches behind my shoe depending how hard I put my shoe down. A few times I thought my shoe was going to catch on fire or something from the amount of aparks that were comming off.
When I got home and checked my shoes. One screw came off of one shoe and 6 came off of the other. I might try that steel plate that oppy was talking about later.

thats cool man. Im glad you brought all this up. I was just thinking this the other day because I was on a long ride with a fellow GSer here in RIchmond. I was just riding there thinking hmm what if I just stood up on the bike seat. So I did and i was amazed at how comfortable and stable I felt doing it. so then I said let me surf the street with my feet on the left side of the bike. SO I did it and wow it was such a rush, then I thought I wish I had metal plates on my shoes. so then I come on this post and I think im going to have to get a old pair of my tennis shoes and put some metal plates to them.  

keep on ridin and keep on pushing the limits of the bike! if you want to do somthing do it, and never look back.


sure most of it is not safe, but when was riding a motorcycle safe in the first place? some of us live for danger and know we could die at any moment. but hey you can die at any moment flying a plane and not doing any tricks at all. might aswell be having some fun

hmm. I still dont quite get the setting your idle as zero thing. ive never heard of it before .  explain why it would be better to throw sparks? not trying to be sarcastic or anything just trying to really understand what its all about.
