I use to like the YZF, but after I found out it's carbureted, I instantly became uninterested. My next bike will have EFI and be completely faired. I'm just over the carburetor "normalties" (or what most people would call "problems") of the GS and the wind resistance is getting to be a real pain when riding the 20 miles of freeway to work every day.

Thanks for the info Alpha and the beautiful pic of your dad's bike.  I want a naked standard, but most were either uncomfortable or to expensive for me.  The FZ6 I think I can get away with.  . will look into it more as my next bike.
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

I'd be willing to be that the SV is a better track day bike and the ZZR is a better commuter.

Which isn't an invitation for you to do an hour of research.  Just throwing that out there.

Psh. Writing what I did earlier took me 10 minutes of comparing the spec sheets from the two manufacturer's websites. Anyone could have done that!

The F4i is $2000 more, at least. I would only buy a used F4i.  The YZF is appealing because it is cheap and it you can get it for $79 a month for two years.  I'm going to have like $3000 to put down on a new bike, so. . . maybe an all black YZF.

Like this?

Got it tonight, it is a 2000, not 2006 though.  Rode a friend's 2005 fz6, didn't like it as much as the GS500, didn't seem to have that much more power and the transmission was wierd. I thought it was too civil of a bike, not near as grumpy or fun as the ole GS.  On the other hand it is still in the break-in period so only could go up to 7000 rpms.  :dunno_white:

Due to tighter and tighter emission regulations it is believed Suzuki will make quite a few changes to their SV range next year to conform to Euro 3. What do you say about a V-twin with GSX-R style exhaust and fresher more modern design? Well, here is how we think it will look like. Pic: Luc1

I didn't include the pic cause its huge... and its just a photochop of their crazy ideas

Destro!  You got it!

You planted the seed in my head.  You see, my brother works for Toyota up in New York.  Toyota owns Yamaha (and Subaru) and I think he can get me a bike a wholesale.

I'll know more when I get my tax return!!

I may have to hit you up for an all YZF ride by the end of April!!!

Word up, man!  I love the bike!

I'd like to see the color changed.  WTF where they thinking in 2006?  Hey guys, the GSXR600's aren't selling well enough because of the SV650, so let's make the SV colors ugly and uglier!
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:

Very difficult to fairly evaluate a bike in break-in, especially if the bike actually performs better above 7K (and I've ridden the FZ6, and it does!  :icon_mrgreen:). The shifting on the FZ6 is definitely clunky from first to second, but smooths out above that. It's definitely not as grumpy as the GS, but when you hop on and go from 0 - 100 in just a few seconds, well....if that's civilized living, then I want more!! I find the FZ6 to be very responsive, and it definitely delivers what you ask of it...if you want civil, it gives you civil...if you want a wild ride...well...no problemo for the FZ6! :thumb:
