wow..that makes me one of the only leather always guys?

Even textile i don't trust.....

but then again i live in san diego...it rarely goes above 85 here.. :icon_razz: :icon_razz:

Yeah, you wouldn't be saying that if you lived in the southeast.  98 degrees and outrageous humidity = heatstroke in leather.  I don't even like to ride with my JR mesh/textile alter ego gear.

I have a Tecnic mesh with "padding" and a TourMaster mesh with CE armor.
I have as much confidence in the TourMaster as any road going jacket.  I think the grade of armor on a mesh is probably more important than the same issue on a good leather.
It is also more comfortable since it is preshaped to riding position.
I ride in mesh 10 months of the year.

The stitching on Joe Rocket gear has a tendency to come unraveled.  Mine has been repaired in multiple places.

Yeah. The Joe Rocket gear has issues with stitching and material quality. My father has a Joe Rocket jacket and the stitching is already loose all over the entire jacket.

The stitching on my JR is pretty good.  I guess they have qc problems, which is typical if made overseas.

When I did a lot of hwy driving, my leather jacket was comfortable in the summer, but here in PA, 90 degrees is considered a heatwave.  Now that I ride mostly suburban roads (50mph is over the speed limit) i like wearing my JR mesh.

I have a Cortech GX Air jacket which I was wearing when I lowsided 2 weeks ago. I didn't slide on the road long but I did hit it pretty hard and spend some time rolling through high weeds on the side of the road. The only damage was grass stains and minimal scuffs on the elbows where I hti the ground hard. The CE armor did a fantastic job protecting me and I would be happy to have it on even if I did crash on a highway. It has strategic leather parts over crash points and I think they would be fantastic in a crash.

If you think you don't need a helmet, you probably don't

Sweet.  Hopefully I won't have to test it out as well.  I ordered this jacket about 6 weeks ago and should be able to actually try it on and wear it early next month

+1 I had my GX Air on when I did a complete front flip over my handlebars onto the ground, a week ago today. Not a scratch on me or the jacket. Some bruising, and I'm limping a bit, but in less than a week, I should be fine.

Stitching issues could be said for about all manufacturers, we have Teknic, JR, HJC, Alpinestars, Firstgear and Fieldsheer in our closet and of all the ones needing repair it's the Teknic.  I think it depends largely on the wear and tear you put on your gear, proper storage and care...you take care of it it takes care of you. My husband and I ride in really HOT weather and even perf'd leather is MISERABLE!

I have two JR mesh jackets, one is over 6 years old and I haven't had a single issue with it.  I will say one thing for JR, they have more reflective material on their gear than most.

Just my two cents...take it for what its worth.    :)

Anyone paying attention to this thread have thoughts on the Alpinestars T-Stune 2 Air-Flo Jacket?  I need to pick up a jacket and this thing should be pretty usable through out most of the year with the liner that comes with.

Pres589  I had that jacket.  I traded it for the Spinner in leather.  It costed me 1/2 the price too!

That jacket doesn't really seem comparable, and how were you able to get the thing for less than the T-Stunt when they run for about $100 more?

Hey Wrecent. Check out the GX-Air. Great jacket, very similar. Available (I believe) in all black, a black/white or a black/silver combo. I went black white, but black/silver would go well with your bike (we have the exact same bike).

Wrecent - That jacket is a Joe Rocket pseudo. See if you can get a hold of a Fieldsheer Mach 2 jacket. They have velcro armstraps at the forearms and biceps, come in all black construction, CE armor all around, and part leather construction.

The Mach 1 and Mach 2 were far superior to my Mach 3.
