jdanna is right about this.  H1's are very capable off-roading vehicles.  The only vehicles that can outperform an H1 (as far as I know) are the jeep wrangler types that have rock climbing tires and a huge lift kit.  Otherwise, H1's are awesome.

You can build a toyota that will beat up on an H1 pretty easily, but yea, stock, there isnt much out there to beat an H1.
A wrangler rubicon could out rockcrawl it, but thats about all.

I've got some pictures of an H1 driving out of a "ditch"...

Now when I say "ditch"...  I really mean huge gaping hole. :o

I'll scan them in and post 'em when I'm not lazy.

Wow...  I totally offended a bunch of you.

My post would be really long if I answered all the questions and refuted all the accusations.

So...  I'll do my own Cliff's notes.

I would spend $600,000 on a house I thought would retain its value...  If I could sell it in 10 years for a 30% profit, then it's all good.
I would put $50,000 into a bond or CD.
I would not spend $60,000 on a new car, 'cause that car will be worth $40k as soon as I drive it off the lot...

New Cars, new motorcycles, TVs, computers, etc are not investments, they are consumables...  Like toilet paper.  Once you buy them, they won't go up in value (unless you wait 40 years for them to be collectable...  And even then, the chances of the value exceeding inflation is almost nil).

Now...  Classic cars and bikes are totally different.  I could buy a '66 WV Bug for $1000, put $3000 into it, and have a car that's worth $6000.  Now, do that same thing to a Norton, BSA, Roadrunner, etc...  And you can have a bike/car that's worth $20,000.

In my opinion, someone that spends "a lot" of money on a TV is stupid.  My 4 year old 32" TV let's me watch my movies and shows just as well as a $4000 brand new TV.  I just have to move my eyes less...  (and in all reality, the picture looks better 'cause it's smaller...  It's the same amount of info being sent to the screen, but the GIANT TV only magnifies the flaws...  Which is why I hate my sister's $4000 TV...  It's hard to watch).

The same goes for people that want to impress people with their over-priced Porche SUV or BMW M3.

Those of you that live in LA should know what I'm talking about...  You see these people driving around in a $50,000 car, but they can't afford their rent. :dunno_white:  What's the point of that?

I think that everyone should spend their money wisely.  If you net $500,000 a year, you should invest $400,000 a year until you have enough money to live for the rest of your life in the manner to which you are accustom...  After that, who really cares....   But, spending $100,000 on a car is selfish, irresponsible, and frankly stupid.

If you make $50,000 a year and you're driving a $50,000 car...  You have your priorities upside down.

If you make $25,000 a year and you watch a $4,000 TV...  Your priorities are upside down.

If you can only afford to make minimum payments on your credit cards, yet you always have the latest high-tech thing in your house, then you need mental help.

At any given time, you should have a minimum of 6 months liquid salary in the bank...  And that money should be making you some money.

If you can afford to spend $80,000 on a car, then you can afford to put $8k a year in a savings account, CD, IRA, etc and drive a $40,000 car.

Not like anyone cares...  You can all go around flaunting your tiny little peckers and rubbing each other's egos to make yourselves feel better than mommy and daddy didn't get you the bicycle you wanted when you were eight...

Heh...  Not like ANYONE that rides a GS and has no other bikes can even afford a f%$king race car.   :flipoff:

So...  If I offended you or your tiny little pecker...  Good.  Go spend your money on bullshit until the day you move into a homeless shelter instead of a retirement home.  Have lots of fun while you're young, 'cause your "Golden Years" are gonna suck.

Quote from: annguyen1981 on November 15, 2006, 08:08:10 PMSo...  You DON'T want to EVER upgrade your bike?

Basically, you said everything a poor person says.  I'm sorry to say this, but you, my friend, are part of the 95% thinkers of the world.  I'm 100% sure that if you had a chance to DOUBLE or maybe TRIPLE your income, you'd be buying a fancier car, nicer bike, maybe even buy a bigger house.

It's human nature.  Nothing wrong with it.
Wow...  For how much you post, you sure don't read very well...  I said I don't like 'busas...  I never said that I didn't love Thruxtons...

And...  If I doubled my income, I WOULD have a better bike, a better car, and a better house...  I'd have an M50 and a GS500...  I'd have a better Hyundia (rather than the mid-level one) and I'd live in a house, rather than a condo.

But, my point is...  I'm spending an appropriate amount of money on each thing.  At the end of each month, I have money left...  My condo is my biggest bill...  Mortgage, H.O. Insurance, upkeep, etc, etc...  Then the next one is the car...  It's 1/6 of my total house bills...  My GS is paid for...  My F.O.R.D. Exploder is paid for...  My TV is paid for...  Everything else I own is paid for............   My Credit Cards are paid off...    And I put money into savings each month...  Then when it's big enough, I invest.

Do you get it now?

Anyone?

Does anyone see my point yet?

No?   Still lost?    OK then...  Refer to the closing statements of my last post in this thread.

I got a GS, 'cause I wanted a bike...  And my coworker had one for sale...  It was cheap and easy...
But, once I started riding it, I realized that it's a great bike...  And...  It's right for me...  'cause if I had a moto that would do 140, I'd be doing 140.  :dunno_white:

well, you're also assuming everyone that has nice/expensive things ARENT spending appropriately to their income level...thats my issue with this point of view. Yes, especially here in LaLa you see people spending above their ability, but I think its just more prevalent here because you see it in the form of big money items. I think overall our culture has this spending attitude. I mean, look at how much (little) everyone has in savings...
And not everyone is so black and white about it. some people might splurge a bit here or there but otherwise be frugal. Hey, I bought marchesini wheels because I could, but yet I have a 10 yr old car thats paid off and no plans to sell/upgrade/etc. the car.
I'm glad you've managed to figure out the finances thing as you have-thats a great way to live. Others believe in credit.
Ironically, the more money one makes the easier it is to afford things. For example, if I made $50,000 a year and bought a $15,000 car (approximately a Scion xB for example), that represents a little less than 1/3 my yearly income. And that leaves X amount for living expenses. If I made $500,000 a year and bought a $150,000 car I am in a better fiscal situation, because my living expenses havent gone up by 10x, although I could live it up and spend 5x as much on nicer things, and still have money to shield from the tax man, making me come out even farther ahead...

The GS isn't a "Fine Quality" Machine?

Dude...  If you hate the GS so much, why are you here?  Just to talk shaZam! and stomp around saying how right you are, when you're actually wrong?
:icon_rolleyes:

Again...  Like anyone that only owns a GS can afford a race car...

Everyone that was insulted by my comments is just insulted by the theory, not the practice... :flipoff:

And I stand by this comment, "Anyone that drives a :bs: car like that is missing something from their personality or their life."

First, I love all machines.  I never once said I hated the GS, or even implied it.

Second, I'm not the one talking shaZam!...you are the one saying that people who make more in a month than you make in a year are wanks, and anyone who drives quality machines like a Lotus Elise has small pee pee, deficit personallities, or mental inadequacies.

I'd hate to hear what you think about people who sponsor bike/car racers or the manufacturers who produce machines like the GSVR and RC211V or anyone who has a private jet...poor bastards...
