Noob here - I need some help

Hey everyone.  I'm new to riding and will be buying a '91 GS500e tomorrow and it needs a little work and I would appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I need to replace the stock speedo and tach faces and don't really want to spring for a whole new instrument cluster (the cheapest one I can find is on eBay and it's going for $50 right now).  Can I just buy the faces somewhere?  I've looked and looked on Google but can't seem to find anything.  Is there another model or year that I can buy the faces for instead and install those?  Thanks for your help and I'll be sure to post some pics sometime this weekend.

None that I'm aware of.Most people here use acewell gauges.dgyver likes the SV gauges and GSXR gauges.

If you buy an Acewell or even SV instruments they will still cost you over $50 and you will still have to overcome the fitting and modification issues. They tend to be expensive due to demand, same as forks, they nearly always suffer in a moderate accident. Best option is to find a breakers yard and haggle for a set of used ones or put up a WTB.

keep checking ebay to find a good deal on one and check the  for sale section.

Does anyone know what I can expect to spend on a tune-up for a used bike I just purchased?

define what you mean by "tune up"

What would your tune up entail??

basically, I want someone with a lot of bike knowledge to go over the entire bike and let me know what work needs to done like changing fluids, checking brakes, forks and all engine aspects like checking carbs, valves, jetting, etc.

I just got back from riding the bike after I bought it an hour or so ago.  I has 17k miles, runs pretty well and has some aesthetic issues (paint fading, some rust on handle bars, etc.), but for $900 it's not bad.  Here's some pics.

BTW, FrankieG if you have an instrument panel and right throttle assembly I'm interested in them, let me know shipping costs.

I need a new front brake reservoir too so if you have one of those I'd gladly pay you for it.

Also, I noticed the guy I bought it from left it with the petcock in the prime position.  I tried riding it in the regular on position and it died on me.  I know the GS has a crappy OEM petcock, but is that normal?

The front brake works fine but the reservoir window is so warped I can't see through it so I guess just the reservoir.

i can check to see what i have .  not sure of the condition.  I know it worked fine while it was on the bike.  but im not sure of the condition of glass.
