Hi everyone,

I´ve been a member on this forum for a while now but never really posted something, so i tought it could be a good start to show you what i´m up to this winter with my GS.

I bought the bike this spring after i sold my GSX-R 750, which was a grat bike but to expensive and to unhealthy for me to own   :icon_rolleyes:. Anyway, i really like this little twin, and thought that i should pimp it a little bit this winter so , and now when the temperature drops bellow zero her in Sweden  i took my plans in to action . So this i what i got so far:

The fairings are Ducati 748 race fairings which are just test fitted to see what is have to be modified. Actually they fit pretty good and only som minor adjustments need to be done. As you can se the rear subframe need to be modified slightly to line upp with the ducati tail. I also have mounted a bandit 4,5" rear wheel. It have a 150 tire on it now, but i will change it for at least a 160 tire, maybe a 170 if i figure out how to make clearence for the chain. :dunno_white:

My plan is to make the bike look something like the Ducati Supermono (see picture bellow), but i will make it street leagal with lights and indicators and so on, but i want that racebike looks on it. As i said the project just got started, and i have the whole long winter to make this little twin a killer

Oh, man is that a sweet bike..

This looks like a excellent Project , what did u use for the bandit rear wheel? because i was told it had to have a custom spacer made

No spacer needed to be made. I just moved the cushdrive with sprocket from the GS, and puted it in the bandit rim. I then used the GS bearings and axle. Between the bearings i used the bandit spacer. Then i modified the caliber holder so everything fited in the swingarm.

I wouldnt of thought the bandit spacer fitted ........... , or the Gs bearings dont fit in the bandit wheel

The outer diameter of the bandit and gs bearings are the same. It´s the inner that differs cause of the diffrent diameter of the axle. So yeah the bandit spacer has a little to wide inner diameter for the gs axle, but i don´t think that should cause any problems because the bearings holds the axle in place, and as i can se it, the spacer is mostly there for holding the bearings in place sideways. Anyway i haven´t dropped the wheel yet and i have driven it for a couple of months now.

Hmm, i have not decide yet what color i´m going for, but i was thinking of red with black rims, or black with white rims, and of course lot of race stickers!  :icon_mrgreen: But we are a long way from there...

Well that didn´t sound to good. Are you sure that the spacer was the reason for the bearings to shatter? Did he put new bearings along with the change? Just find it hard to beleave that that small diameter diffrence of the spacer causes the bearings to break...  :dunno_white: but if that so i´ll be happy to know.  :thumb:

Hi again, sorry for being lazy with the updates on my project. Haven´t done so much really cause of other projects going on . But i´m almost done fabricating the custom rear subframe for the ducati seat. As you can se in the pictures it´s basicly just needed som minor modifications, and by just moving the orginal gs mounting bars forvard on the frame the ducati seat fitted like it was ment to be there! :)

I have also made the mountings for the top farings, just bended and welded som round profile steel together and attached it to a falt profile steel bar whitch is bolted directly in to the frame. Also welded on a flat profile bar on the steeringstop which holds the topfairing underneeth.

The i sadly discovered that the bottom fairing (the "boat") didn´t look good at all on the gs, it was to big, and would have made the groundclearnce really bad. So i decided to fabricate one insted. Took me some hours of work but edned upp very good!

Then to lift upp the rear end a little bit i mounted a SV shock. So now i also have to order som progressive springs to stiffen up the front end! :)

Some pictures:

why not just upgrade to the kat or gsxr front end?

Dude, that thing looks SWEET! It tells you just how right Ducati got the whole 916/748 line's styling, and it makes me want to graft that bodywork onto my race SV500 ...

It would be sweet to fit a USD fork, but i tink i´ll leave that for a while. Have to finish up the rest first! :)

servus,

jay, you need custom spacers only, when you take the bandit swingarm in the gs frame. only the bandit wheel in stock gs swingarm fits without spacers.

@krusse.: nice job and good idea with the full fairing. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Have done some photoshoping!  :icon_rolleyes:
