You may want to pull the clutch cable cover and check the gear shift, clutch push rod and drive gear seals. They are all under that back cover. There isn't a gasket on the clutch cable, drive gear cover. There are only about 6 small bolts.
I was getting simular oil spots and underneath that cover also. Two were leaking..so I replaced all three. :thumb:
Well, either you're part of the problem, part of the solution,...

Ben, the one you showed me is a 96. Will it matter that I have a 2004?

Sorry about that.I'm glad you ask.Here is the correct diagram.Still part 15 gasket,magneto. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/suzuki-motorcycle-gs500f-2004-crankcase-cover/o/m6061sch503046

Just want to be 100% sure, is the part number 3100671-001? If that's the part then I will order and work on it on the weekend. Thanks.

Yes that is the correct part number.

This is another area to check since your bike has been dropped. The gear shift lever hits the ground enough it will cause the shift shaft to leak.I have never had the joy of changing a shift shaft seal. When you pull the cover at the foot shifter you will see where the shaft enters the engine case.

OK sounds like a weekend job. So to do any of this, I will need to drain the oil first right?

Hehe I think I could lay the bike on its right side without a mattress. It's been dropped so many times I don't think it makes a difference.

And yes, if you're in the area please... That's what I've been hoping for actually. :) I'm in the city of San Gabriel. I'd buy you dinner. Well, let me know if any chance you might be in the area. :)

Ben, thanks for your assitance so far. So, time to order the part and wait for it to come in.
