GKIM

Hello everyone!
I am KIM 46, from Mexico City.
Why am I here?
Yes I am a proud GS500F owner (Black Shark).
Have a great day!

I'm Jake from Central Jersey, the guy with the "Acid Bath" GS500. I'm 53 and have been off & on bikes since about 1974. I'm a casual hobbyist, not a "dedicate my life to biking" type. I prefer wrenching but riding is cool too.
Hey, its all-good.

My latest bike is a black & silver 2007 "F" bike with only 1200 miles on the ticker.
This is what it looked like shortly before the tear-down.

The night I bought it (and it was all in once peice) I rode it about 8 miles. It felt kind of tame. Other than that, I can't say much cause it's been in pieces in my shop since then. When I'm done making it "mo-bedda" and get it all re-assembled, I'll post some photos on the forum.
And By The Way. . .
The GStwin.com Forum crew here has saved me countless hours and lots of $$$ by posting all the helpful GS500 tech & how-to articles.
Thank you all many times!

My name's Tim, hailing from sunny Melbourne, Australia. Just bought a '97 GS500E, because my housemates were getting sick of me using their bikes all the time and I was getting sick of their bikes breaking down. Not at all mechanically experienced but keen to learn - I'll try not to make my questions too stupid. This is the beast in my extremely charming back yard:

Hi Guys and Gals;

Rick from El Nuevo Mexico here.  After a 25 year absence from bike w/motors I have a little used 2007 GS.   At 16, I got a 125 honda, at 28, a 250 and now a GS500.  Guess a liter bike is in my future.  Funny thing is I always wanted a Suzuki, even when I was 12.  I'm based in New Mexico where if u go off roading by accident, it's pretty serious.  Lots of arroyos, big rocks and gravel to be concerned about but the sunsets ROCK.  When I got the GS it wouldn't even start, but I had faith.  Last week, after a trip to the harley non-dealer shop I got out and got excited.  Biggest problem was the idle screw.  :technical: My hands are too big to reach it without getting burned by all the stuff around it.  The GS is a big bike to me.  After I filled it up I nearly dropped it in the garage, not used to that topheavy mother with a full tank. :flipoff:  Looking forward to miles of smiles... :thumb:
See, I told you I was sick...

My parents never allowed me to own a motorcycle so i was out of luck on that part. When i was 15, I saw my first GS 500 on the streets and I felt in love with it. Needless to say, I had no money to even think about getting one. So I put up pictures in my room and dream about having one. After moving to the USA i bought my first car and got married and started to save up for a motorcycle. By the time I had enough money to purchase one, my wife decided that was not going to happen. So there I was again, this time with some money and no motorcycle ... Years went by and I finally landed and awesome paying job with the health care distric...thats when my wife for 11 years decided to cheat on me and kick me to the curve. She took me for all i had and left me out in the cold with the same suitcase the I came with 12 years ago. So i decided to go back to spain and spend time with family and friends build my savings back up and so on. My ex decide the file for divorce while i was visiting family in spain and of course since i didnt appear or was serve ( in  Spain) she took it all .. cars, savings, house, dogs, 401k, full custody of my son and moved her boyfriend in 1 month after kicking me out.

I decided to face my ex and came back for my son. I had 100 dollars in my pocket and a place to stay so i work and work and work and walk to work both ways up the hill to save a a lil money....I save some money and i was ready to get a car when one day i ran into a torn up GS 500e 1992. I waited in front of the parking lot for 30 minutes and i wrote a note for the owner when he happened to come out. After talking and test riding the bike. The bike needed lots of work but it run good it was sitting on a garage for over 5 years but it ran and i could afford it so I bought my firrst bike.

This is my first post, My name is Agustin and I live in Los Angeles, Ca.  I recently purchased a 1990 GS500 for commuting and the occasional canyon run. The bike has some issues but it looks like this site has wealth of information to offer and many helpful members.

Here are a couple of pictures after I cleaned her up a bit and got her engine running.

And this is who she shares the garage with.

That blue "Yah-me" looks like some pretty serious stuff.
Very Nice!
