Hey guys, I am a 23 year old male just moved to florida (jupiter) 8 months ago and picked up my '05 Gs500 last thurs for my first bike  :woohoo:. love the bike and having a blast riding it. Can't wait to get some cash to put on some clip on bars.

On a side note I don't understand why multiple people have said I will out grow this bike and want to sell after a month...seems like a great beginner bike with lots of potential for customization and more than enough speed to keep me happy
They say that because they are jealous of the awesomeness that is the GS500 :icon_twisted:
I am not interested in anything you have to say

now i have my licence .. still got the GS500 and love all its moods and action styles.... and am trying to figure out how to get the missus to not kill me when i buy ANOTHER bike as well!!!... one for when i just absolutely positively have to be a maniac!!  :icon_twisted:

No new rider outgrows his/her first bike in a month, if so they are accident waiting to happening. You can not experience and learn everything in a month.. Its impossible.. Jump off that 250/500 onto a 1000cc with in a month of starting to ride and you will be in the back of an ambulance be for you can say weeeeeeee(right be for you low side or target fix). I will say 250s are just glorified scooters... First time i rode a gs500 I was hooked, so ignore those hyped up ego boosting "you must have a 600cc+" bike for street/highway riding.. The GS500 is a perfect beginner bike and experienced rider bike. Heck i even bought one after crashing my first one.. I never been so sick as i was sitting in the middle of the road as my gs500 flipped over the bank and out of sight.

Like as been said a million times.. screw up on a 500cc and it will scare the shaZam! out of you, screw up the same way on a 600rr+ and it will kill/hurt you in a flash.

 Hey everyone,

My  name's  Cameron, 25  from the  Gold  Coast,  Australia.  Finished  up  my Mechatronic  engineering degree  last year and got  myself a bike license  as a  reward to myself.  Saved up and got a GS500 a  few months ago now.  Never  realized how much free time I had as a student,  so I don't get to ride as much as I thought I would.  Also have a habit of taking things apart,  so I  probably spend more time tinkering with the bike than  riding it  :tongue2:

Anyway,  looking forward to changing that  and being a  part of the forum.

Hi guys, I'm Jools (- that's what my mates call me). From Greendale, Victoria, Australia.
Picked up my '89 GS500 a few days ago (very cheap). I've been riding for a long, long time, there's a small collection of restored Brits, Japs, and a an R/T Ducati in the workshop. Recently I've restored an RZ yamaha and been working on 2 CX500 Hondas. I fancied the GS because they look sweet and they're light and chuckable (unlike the CX's which are brilliant bikes in many ways... but they are HEAVY lumps).
GS500 PO was a dickhead (what's new!) so there'll be plenty of fettling to do... I just found 45mm slack in the timing chain!
Looking forward to getting to know you fellers.

Beam me up Scottie....

Hey guys what's up?! My names Brandon and I'm 24. I live in canton Ohio right by the football hall of fame. Ive been riding for 6 years and just bought my first gs500e.  Its a 1990 with 2170 miles  :D . I've had sport bikes, cruisers and historical bikes and the gs500 is my favorite bike to ride. I've had more fun on a 500 than anything else I've owned. Can't wait to start some mods! And if theres anybody in the Ohio area that wants to ride I'm always looking for new people to ride with!
Have a good one!

Great to meet you all, and to find this place.

I started to ride last April when I bought a Honda Ruckus. Had a blast on it and commuted nonstop rain or shine. That party came to a screeching halt in the beginning of February when it got stolen.

I used the insurance payout to pick up a 92 GS500E. The previous owner was selling it off after he got it impounded and I got it for only a grand.  20500 miles on it, some scuffs and scratches, but looking good nonetheless.

Also a quick question: Where is the appropriate forum to post some pics?
Ya don't learn anything from being proven right.

Hello! I'm almost 25 and live in souther Ontario. Just picked up a '01 GS500 as my first bike. Grew up on dirt bikes and I've had my license for a few years now, just waiting until I was 25 to buy a bike so I didn't have to sell a kidney to pay for insurance. The bike has a full Jardine exhaust, K&N intake and it's rejetted. Runs like a top, can't wait to get riding it.

Already been reading and learning all I can about the bike. This place seems like a great community! Just reading the stickies and taking in all the info I can right now.

Only plans for the bike are a headlight upgrade (debating on the dominaot duals or the dominator dual projectors), and rear shock upgrade, maybe the katana 600 (240lb rider, stock shock isn't cutting it).

:woohoo:
'01 GS500
-140 rear tire
-Jardine exhaust
-jetted
-Katana 600 rear shock
-Sonic .90 fork springs
-1/2" aluminum fork brace
-dual dominators
-R6 throttle tube

Hey all, names Filip and I'm from Sydney, Australia. 2 weeks to go before finishing my bachelors degree in Computing so I thought I would reward myself with a bike to get back into the game after being a broke uni student for 4 years.

Getting an 04 GS500F delivered to me from up the coast which is an ex loan bike, the price was too alluring to miss out on. I am very hands on so I look forward to taking her apart and cleaning her and modding her. This forum has been a huge resource for helpful information and the community seems tight and great! Can't wait to settle in.

HOWDY GS RIDERS!
