This is Ed from Long Island, New York.  Just started riding again after almost 30 years, things have changed quite a bit since.  Completed MSF course, picked up an '05 GS500F with less than 100 miles this past weekend, doubled the mileage in 2 days.  And like before, I'm just looking foward to my next ride.

Hi, my name is Clint, I'm 29 and from Benalla a small city in central Victoria, Australia. I work for Australian Defence Industries, producing munitions for our armed forces.

I bought my 91 GS about 4 years ago and love it. It's now a streetfighter, heaps of mod done, including 99 R1 tail, motoX bars, crash cage, fireblade pegs, pushbike speedo, custon dash, mini turn signals, rage headlight assembly, chopped downand de-baffled muffler, etc etc.

I also have a 97 RF900R, it's pretty stock with only a few cosmetic improvments  and a 81 Z250 Kwaka, which has been modified for off road use.

Just wondering if it is possible to change my name, as I'm known on other forums as Iceman, but it was already taken here. I checked and the user with this name has only have the one post and it was quite a while ago. Is there any chance of deleting them and giving me my true username?

Flywheel

Good Morning, GStwins! As my 34th birthday approached last year, I felt the need to stretch out and try something new. Although work was challenging, it often left me drained and frustrated. The remedy had to be cool and exciting. Thinking back into my childhood, I remembered (as some of you might) one of the great toys of the 70's: Ideal's "Evel Knieval's Stunt Cycle". Lining up ten battered Tonka trucks (with ramps on either side), my brothers and I attempted to recreate one of the legend's signature stunts. Despite winding up the gyroscopic motor as fast as possible, poor Evel suffered one horrific crash after another in our quest for glory. What could be cooler and more exciting than motorcycles? Not much! "Does this make any sense at all?" ran circles in my head as I bought gear and signed up for the local MSF course (Toronto's Humber College). Before my class started on-bike excercises using TTR-125s, I dared not answer that nagging question. Once we started the slaloms and ovals, however, it was answered: "F##K YES!" I wanted to ride that kooky little dirtbike home. After passing the ministry exam held at the end of the weekend, I immediately started hunting for a bike; winter was drawing near and gave me ample time to haunt dealerships and do some research. Based on fit and comfort, the GS500 won out over the smaller cruisers (Rebel, Virago) and the ninja 250/500. Google then led me to your doorstep. After patiently waiting and watching, a 2002 GS500e appeared in the classifieds. It was in good shape, priced fairly and had less than 9k on the clock. Bingo! That was back in January, and I've been having a blast ever since.
gs500 K2 (blue/silver) + Pirelli Sport Demon tires, Pro 6 stainless brake lines (front/rear), Racetech .85 kg/mm fork springs, 15w Motul fork oil, Kat 600 rear shock, K+N drop in air filter, Kisan PathBlazer/Tailblazer modulators, Oxford heated grips and a Givi A240 flyscreen.

redbuddy

I'm a new GS owner from the Gulf Coast of Alabama. '04 , yellow, bought from a bank repo. This is about the 35th bike I have owned since I started riding in 1969. Does anyone else find it annoying for the GS to be called a BEGINNER BIKE?

Squirrel

I'm Laura and I live in Minneapolis.  I'm 42 years old and just bought my first bike, an '04 GS500F.   I'm a newbie.

LesaKing

Lesa King here, originally from the great country of Texas now living in the pleasantly green and hilly Nashville, TN.

I got my license and first bike, a sparkling new '05 GS500F, on May 6 of this year. I rode the Dragon three days after that and have put over 6000 miles on her thus far. I had my first track day out at Barber a few weeks ago. Super scary, but super fun!

My husband, Shawn King, and I do an Internet radio show about riding called Your Bike Life (he cruises around on a huge '05 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe). We're both in the technology field (I'm graphics instructor & writer, he's a radio guy). We ride our bikes every single day and head out on long rides most every weekend.

We're always looking for folks to meet up with either here in Nashville or in the Deal's Gap area :)
