haha, dude that cracks me up... those are really good roads and i should know bc i currently live on one of them and my friends all live in the surrounding area of the other roads you mentioned, hehe, small world.

whenever i get my bike settled and it runs ill send you a PM and see if you feel like riding. there are also a few nice long curvy roads with less twisties and more relaxed feel out toward old town mount airy (buffalo rd, harrisville rd, watersville, etc).

so anyhoo, great to see theres one or two more 500 guys out my way, ill drop you a line real soon
i dont know what he just said... but i think that fell about thirty yards from making any sense whatsoever...

My name is Lewis and my 1992 GS500 is my 6th bike. I got the bike for a steel from a friend and have fixed it up for my sons. Well, that was the plan, but my wife is riding it now. I usually ride a 2003 FZ1 with loads of mods and have 4 dirtbikes for the family. I have gleened advice from this forum to make it run right, thanks.

Happy to make your virtual acquaintance, Lewis.  I agree this community is a great place to learn about the GS500.  Great set of folks and information here.

Lots of people here that "used to have a GS500", yet hang out to give and get advice.  Americas, Europe, Austrailia (but not so much Africa or Asia for some reason).  The world of GS500 riders gathers right here.   :thumb:

Hello all!  I am Charles from Alabama.  I just bought a 95 GS500.  She needs some work, but the price was right!  I'll post some pictures of my progress soon!

Hi everybody!! :)

My name is Simone (Simon if you prefer, since I'm a male), I'm 28(nearly) and I write from Italy (North-West, Piedmont region).

I'm a (fresh) electronic engineer, and am currently working as a plant operator near where I live.

I've just bought (last Wednesday) a '01 blue GS 500 from a local dealer, and I must say I'm enthusiast about it!! I'll just have to practice for some time, since this is my first bike ever (...after a plethora of mopeds and scooters.....); it's lightweight, easy to handle and not so very fast, that's why I chose it as first bike.

Hope I'll munch many many km's on my baby... ;)

See ya soon guys!!! ;)

Lamps,
Simon.

recently acquired a wrecked 05 ( twisted plastics, forks and trashed tank, rest is mint!!!!) and looking forward to converting it to a trackday bike. Figured its light, flickable, and gosh darnit the best part was i got it really cheap!

Looking forward to seeing if anyone can throw me some good mod ideas for it, anyone?anyone?

Also, my current need for this bike are :  Clean tank, front forks for the stock triples (reasonable priced please) in case my 02 gsxr600 front end doesnt work out, upper plastic and a fairing bracket.

Let me know thanks in advance Guys!( and Gals too  ;))

Hey all,

My name is Andy, I'm from Texas, and am the proud owner of a black and silver '06 GS500F.  It's my first bike, and I'm loving every mile!

Howdy Yall... I'm Greg, the proud owner of a `90 gs500e... I hail from Auburn, WA... a shitty little suberb 15 minutes south of seattle...

I'm a warehouse supervisor for the Seattle based production center for propertyroom.com (buying stolen stuff legally online, otherwise known as online police auctions)

I also run seattlemetal.com.

I got a super sweet deal on my bike last fall, and I had no idea there were cults about it... hehehe... Overall performance-wise, this bike has pretty much all the basis covered for me... My only wish is that it got off the line as fast as my buddies `04 Ktm 625 LC4 Dual Sport... he beats me all the time  :bs:

From Marietta, GA (Atlanta suburb).  I'm 32.  I'm a civil engineer.  I just bought a '96 GS500E.  It only has 3600 miles.  It's dark red with dark grey trim.  I used to ride dirt bikes, but now I'm getting into the road bike thing.  I took a look at some cruisers, but I decided that the naked sportbikes are more my style.  So far, I love my 500.  It's funny to me when I tell people about my bike that they don't seem to be interested because it's 'only a 500'.  I want to ask them, is this a sport or a pi$$ing contest to see who has the most cc's?  I also don't understand how most bikes these days you're either laying on your stomach (sport bikes) or leaned back like you're in a recliner (cruisers).  It's good that there are still some nice standard, upright sitting bikes like the GS500.   :thumb:

Ditto on what Turd said.

A couple of years back I was leaving a Honda dealership and a GoldWing rider was just getting off her bike and asked me "How do I like your 'little' Suzuki".

"I like it just fine", I said, thinking of how easy it was to ride, can park it in my 2-car garage with two cars and the 50+ MPG I get every time I throw a leg over.

And then there's being in the dealer's show room when the 17 year-olds enter and drift immediately to the 1000cc SuperSports.   :)

Hey, everyone assumes their own level of risk and reward.  Welcome to our group.   :thumb:

It's how people will spend $10,000+ on a bike and then have either crappy helmet/safety gear or none at all.  I can't count the number of people I've seen riding GSX-R's in a t-shirt, no gloves, and tennis shoes.  :cookoo:

Like you say, everyone assumes their own level of risk and reward.

I was just down in jacksonville the other day and saw a guy riding in shorts, flip flops and no shirt on a f%$king busa.  That's it ......not even a f%$king helmet.  There are people everywhere down there that don't wear helmets :icon_confused: :icon_confused:   Ohhh well, natural selection I guess :thumb:
