37 yr old two wheelin' Nerd/Photog from Tulsa  :technical:

Have a 93 GSX1100G, 91 GS500E, 86 Honda Rebel 250, and 06 SV650S (fiance's bike) in the garage.

GS has been a "project" bike for ages, but since my R1100S was totaled by semi , decided to bring the GS to life and use it as my daily / take everywhere, do everything bike.  In the last week I have rebuilt the engine, carbs, and calipers.  Picking up Mityvac today to finish off the brakes, then adjust chain, paint and re-decal.  Then I'll be up and mobile with her.  Plan on putting some Hepco Becker bags on her that will xfer to the other bikes as well, then the kiddos and I will be unstoppable!  :thumb:

Yaaaay another brissy boy. Welcome

Excuse me Slips but you can't be posting here.
I thought this thread was primarily a place for new GS500 owners to say hello.

I do believe your an old member and you ride a bike that was made in Germany, not Spain.
Just saying, check your VIN  :whisper:

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

I'm an 18 year old guy with a motorcycle, here in Southwest Florida.  I bought it wasn't working, fixed er up, and put several thousand miles on it!  But last night it broke while i was trying to do wheelies.  Don't have a girlfriend and don't think I'll get any action until i go to college in a month...  how's your day?  :-X

I guess the question here is.... Is fixing the bike, or getting some girl action most important?
Either way,

Golly

Hello to everyone, I am Golly from Australia, the Western Perth side, the loneliest side of the country ahhaha..
I have a 1990 E version, mind you the VIN numbers stated on the frame and plate relate to a 2000 release, go figure, so its a grey area for me on this issue at the moment and I am trying to confirm it.

Nice to meet you all, love the site, great resource for a noob like me.  My first bike was a 92 XJ600 which I conveniently swapped for the GS so alls fair in love and bikes hey... take care, hope your liking my project thread and soon it will be back together and on the road for some enjoyment.

25 living in north florida (usa). I've been lurking around for about a week reading different posts decided to register last night. Seems to be a great community. From some of the posts i've read through it seems like you folks have a ton of patience for beginners so I was glad to see that.

I have had my motorcycle endorsement for about 2 weeks. 2 of my younger brothers both just bought a 2007 gs500. Both with about 11k miles. I will be the one doing most of the work on them though as it is needed. I will try to post pictures in a couple of days when the weather clears. Anyway thanks for all the future advice/help. Glad to be here.

Hi guys, just found the site, looks great.

My name is Stephen and i come from West Yorkshire UK
I have just acquired a 1998 GS500e in bright orange, it has been sat in my friends garage for the last eight years under a blanket, i drained and refilled the fuel and oil, new plugs and a battery and she fired up no problem, sounds great too.
Took it for its MOT and it passed straight through.

Taking my bike test in the next week or two so i can start using it, cant wait seems like a great bike

Chitza

Hi Fellow GS owners. I am Karla from Alabama. Just bought my first gs500 after searching for months. Rode a 650 vstrom prior but I'm vertically challenged and decided to find a better fit. I love suzuki so wanted to keep it in the family.

Found a gem. 1994 gs500e with all original parts, minor scratches and 6800 miles. Not without issues though. Needs new tires, new battery(done), back brake fluid change(done), gas tank clean(almost done), carb rebuild(go figure, half way done), new handle bars(originals bent ever so slightly), and new trip gauge (button to reset broken off). M certain I'm forgetting something but if so it must not be all that important.
