70 years old, been riding since I was 15. My first bike was a new BSA Bantam--still have it although I have been through dozens since. Don't like cruisers. Do like mid-sized motorcycles. Just bought my '06 GS500f a couple of months ago. Gave some cash and an old shotgun.

Live in SE Tennessee--like to go riding in North Georgia, West North Carolina, and of course in the Tennessee mountains.

Kok

21 year old guy from Denmark. Yes, that means i'm Danish, yes just like the pastry.  :dunno_black:

Currently studying within the metal working field. (it's complicated)

Got myself a 1998 GS500E, with 15000 miles on her about a month ago. Which i'm gonna be commuting on daily.
So of course I had to sign up here, since i'll be taking things apart and having trouble putting them back together again, as usual.
I can't help myself, I like LOVE taking things apart.

Hopes it's okay to sneak a picture into this thread.
Anyways here's a bit of Danish nature, including some completely random and unknown motorcycle. (Definitely not my GS500)   :D

Hi! New to the forum and new to bikes haha.

I'm from Ottawa, Canada. I have an 89 GS500E with the motor from a GS500F swapped in (2006 i think?), and it has more problems than I can count haha.

I just got my motorcycle license last summer, at the end of the riding season. I decided to wait until this year to buy a bike, but the bike i bought was a bit of a dud lol. It runs great when it runs, but it definitely needs a lot of work before I can register it for the road, which makes me think I might not have it on the road for this riding season given the time I need to put into it vs the amount of time I actually have.

Insurance is a bummer in this province (not sure about others in Canada), but you need to pay for a full year of insurance, even though you cant actually ride it in the winter (November to April). So It may not be worth it for me to insure the bike by the time I'm done working on it, and to just wait until the next riding season.

I'm looking forward to the project though. The bike, so far, is really easy to work on, which is exactly why I bought it. I wanted to really learn so that I could have a better appreciation for bikes in general. Like cars, I believe that if I have an understanding for how it works, then I can ride it better and safer.

Anyone else here from Ottawa, or surrounding areas?
E body with an F engine. I call her Sheila. She's got plenty of problems, but I'm here to sort her out and get her in tip-top shape.

44 yo freckled read-head, Scottish-English-German, 6 foot, 250lb dude, 3rd gen rider (at least), hope there's a 4th, got my license on my 16th birthday at 10am, at 9am I got my car driver's license.

I roll in the Bay Area on the east side, love the Warriors, Raiders, 49ers, A's and Giants (I'm too slow for hockey apparently).

I started with sport bikes, but now love naked and cafe racers, customs of all kinds, HD and pro-street style crusiers too.  But my wife gave me the cafe/sport racer approval nod (much to my surprise), so that is where my money goes to (for now?).  I went like this 50cc moded YZR50, Seca 400cc, FZ 650cc, CBR 600cc and now GS500e 500cc.  Wanted lighter and smaller...

My dad was an Easy-rider chopper type that died in the military at age 34, my grandad rode a HD touring-type Glide-something until he couldn't anymore, but also had a HD in the garage from the 40's.  One of my biggest bummers is that I didn't inherit any of their bikes because they lived so far away at the time

Its in my blood, 2 wheels, from the get go, starting with the pedal kind, then as fast as possible until one with an engine, then that was it, spent my life in a video game.  Couldn't get enough, even did my xmas shopping via motorcycle even though I had a car.  The car was for when it was raining (which I just go tired of crashing in finally).  Made all the mistakes, had all the fun.  I even dozed off once while coming back from the strip club in SF years back on the CBR

Spent some time in Thailand, where they are extra-crazy on their motorcy's, and drive unbelievably close to one another at all speeds, when I got back it took me months to dial it back, and stay off the sidewalk.

I can't afford real customs, so I build custom cycle 1/6 models, where plastic glue, model-bondo and paint can make anything...

Luck to have found this forum

Hey everyone!

DJ McQuade, Sacramento, CA, and I have a 2007 Suzuki GS500F.

Hi!

SanMateo

Hello everyone!

32 year old male from Detroit, MI.

Got a 2007 Suzuki GS500F 3 years ago.  It only had 3,000 miles on it.  It came from a Japanese engineer who didn't have time to ride it.  I've been travelling for work the last few years, so I haven't had much time to ride it myself, so it only has 6,000 miles on it now.

It's time for a new battery, so I came here to find which one to get, as well as start looking into tips for upgrades and learning how to work on the bike.

Hi! My name is Kat from Northern California. I just picked up a 1991 GS500E. Aside from some surface rust (stored in a barn for 20 years) it's in great condition with 7k on the clock. My previous motorcycles have all been dual sports and I'm really excited to now own a bike that I can touch the ground on with both feet! I plan on doing some lightweight sport touring on it :)

Ted

Old white guy in London, Ontario. About a month ago I picked up a 1999 GS500 after spending the past three or four years trying to get a 1979 KZ650 running properly. I got a TON of help from the folks over at forums.kz650.info; very impressed with the level of encouragement and expertise on that site and this one. (I'd always figured that kind of loyalty was restricted to folks who rode Nortons or Harleys - shows what I know.)

I've been riding off and on since I was a teenager, and don't really consider this bike underpowered (even after riding my friend's GSX1100G - I'm quite happy with a bike that weights 200 pounds lighter than his). I'm a social worker who has found two wheels good self therapy.
