Hey i own a 1989 GS-500 and i love the bike but recently i ran into a few problems on the left bank it keeps carbon fouling the plug i have pulled the carbs and cleaned them really well. i have checked all of the electrical from the signal generator to the coil and all seem to be working just fine so i think it is in the carb.  i have pulled it apart and it all looks really good the floats are somewhat new as wellas the diaphragm.  the right bank runs great and has had no problems other than a bad coil.  It will foul out the left side after just a few minutes of riding then i have to keep up on the revs or it wants to bog down and eventually die if left to idle on its own. Would rejetting  the carbs fix this problem or should i look else where? Any suggestions or if you have had this problem and know how to fix it please let me know. Thanks Winings.

may be your float level on that carb.  wouldn't hurt to sync the carbs too

Replace the bad coil. What air filter and exhaust is on the bike? This determins your jetting. If you are fouling a plug from carbon, you probably have a float set to high. Here's some links to review.

Carb sync.Always check and adjust the valves before balancing carbs. The carbs need a strong vacuum to sync correctly.

The first link provided by ben2go (i.e. float height check) is best performed with the carbs on the bike.
