the two fat ass's on HD and no helmets blame sport bikers for the rise in accidents.  well one of the first things one of those guys said is "its having the power between your legs"   first off HD and power are oxymoron's.    yes squids are out there crashing but those old fat ass HD or HD wannabees with no lid or 1/2 lid should not be pointing fingers.  anyhoo i am done ranting watch and decide for yourself.

its teh 1% rule 1% of bikers give the rest a bad name. including those on sportbikes who wear no or half a helmet . lol, so i could edit your Buddha Loves You/rant post about HD. hell i rode one, does that make ME fat, and lazy and whatever else? , i dont think so. but anyhoo back on subject teh 1% rule applies to ALL types of riders :thumb: and if you knew anything about hd, it and power are NOT oxymorons. unless youre comparing one to a gixxer, which tehn youd be comparing teh wrong machines to eachother

This past weekend we had a HUGE motorcycle rally in town 250,000+ bikes. Over the weekend there had been 5 majior accidents ALL 5 had been cruisers. Not one sport bike.

One I witnessed was a group of 4 harley guys... 3 passed a car on the left in a no passing zone. the last guy waited cause a car was comming... a few yards up the road he went for it, just as the lead car was making a left turn (w/signal on) and took the HD rider out. his bike got mangled but he rolled a few times, got up and started yelling at the cager ??? I stoped, told the car driver to go sit in his car and made the HD rider and his buddies lay face down on the ground till the cops came   Cops took the (at fault rider with them and let his buddies go  :dunno_white:

I saw A TON of stupid antics this weekend, most had been Harley/cruiser riders doing burnouts, passing in no passing zones and just making plain bone headed moves. Most of the sport riders I saw had been well behaved only a few wheelies and rev limmiters here and there.

Harley Davidson... heh...  :flipoff:

I can respect most of them But, as I mentioned in another thread, most seem to be "on the band wagon" They all have the Harley t-shirts, stickers on their F250 and their wife even gets in on it w/ a harley shirt to sport only when in the right crowd. Most every HD rider I know is a complete TOOL! They only own one cause their buddys at work own em and for no other reason. They have no self identity at all! They eat sleep and breath HD wear harley hats, coats and drink from an HD coffee cup, but yet most wont even ride if there is 10% chance of rain.

We have a parts guy here @ work that just came here from an HD dealer. He has some GREAT stories. One main fact about HD riders... Most cannot afford the bike they bought.. HD will finance ANYONE! and the will find ways to finance you for 20 years if they have to. Their sales have DRASTICLY decresed in the past couple years and is going further down hill FAST! The bikes are all WAY over priced and not worth 1/2 what you pay for em. You can buy a much better Kawi or Suzuki for far less than half of a "bandwagon" HD

That said, I know there are some true HD fans that are great people and truly love their bike. However most just do it to be liked

right off the bat the guy says "its about doing what you want on two wheels".... like crossing the yellow line? did anyone else see that? guy comes around a corner and wanders halfway into the oncoming lane? seriously.  :2guns:

we should all go out there and try to bridge the gap. it shouldn't be about sport vs cruiser... its a fraternity of 2 wheeled madness.

The way I see it, its all a matter of personal preference.  Two completely riding styles between a sportster and a cruiser.  To each their own...

As far as HD, I don't personally like them.  I think they sound ugly and are too big.  But HD riders probably think the same of sports bike.

As much as some people buy HD's as a status symbol, I'd suggest some sports bike riders do the same.

At the end of the day, we're all out to enjoy the road...can't we just be friends!?!?!?   :icon_lol:

For all the talk in the story (and other ones I've seen) about the increase in the number of motorcycle deaths/injuries, they almost always mention the total number. Not the rate, which is what matters a lot more.

From that story, they say deaths went up 39% from 2002 to 2006, and injuries up 35%. As a rough guide to the number of riders, using their numbers of 248,000 to 338,000 registered bikes. Which is a.... 36% increase. So deaths have been going up slightly faster than the number of bikes (probably because of inexperienced riders in their first couple of years). But it's hardly a crisis.

frankieG

i agree but in america fear sells so that is what they report

well, we have more drivers/riders on the road today than we did a few years ago. it's just asinine to think we can increase the number of riders/drivers and not have an increase in accidents as well.  :cookoo:

nothing really against harleys but the attitude.  I just don't like the head straight ahead look when you throw out a wave  :flipoff: I just can't get over the whole attitude and mentality that goes with the cruiser crowd.  I just had a guy today with a green light blow by me 3 cars back at a stoplight.  It had turned green and he was still trying to split.  I typically don't mind it, but when cars are moving and just starting from a green, you don't go 25 mph between slow moving cars.  He got all of 3 cars in front of me and we pulled into the same gas station later up the road.  All that pissing people off, weaving in and out in traffic, and he has a dozen cars ready to tailgate him while we end up in the same spot.

Ahh the old motorcyclist wave, what a bunch of hokey BS, I dont wave at all, they only wave because they think its the cool thing to do. 90% of the humps out there wouldnt stop if you needed assistance anyway, I am a very courteous and socialable guy but the wave is wayyy lame. If you do it more power to you and have fun with it.
