Maaaa ... stop the beating ... stop ... stop ...

OK CL is a very good indicator for a general population bike like a GS ... It may not be for a 40K chopper or a 1965 norton ... but a general bike like GS, my nighthawk or maxim etc etc it is.

OK I'll be a bit more precise and more gentle - Before it drops off the front page ... and remember in can be a few hours in a place like SFO, or a month in a place like asheville ... and that determines how fast too ... so its a good indicator ... you should have about 5-10 emails/calls. If not, what you have in your ad is sending people away. My nighthawk got ~8 in july, other bikes have been more or less ... average 8-10. It may be price, condition, combination of the 2 or somehting else - like your ad is in russian and your pic is a .rpgnjkdgtshs format and you can only open it with a grapansicalnewfangled graphic editor ... whatever the reason.
Of the 10 that call you should have 3 people come to see it. If you dont, you're telling them somehting that they dont like ... as in its smoking, its leaking or it was run over by a truck after the pic was taken ... I dont mean you should tell them nothing and just tell them to see it ... cos then too people will just go by the pic and may not ...
1 person buys it, if not, its got somehting in the way it is when they see it.

Dont go by what we are saying, some of us will like anything as long as its not stock ... some others will want this or that ... the people you are selling to are what ... people without a GS500 or any bike usually. The people in here ... exactly, already have a GS.
If you dont generally not have 10-3-1 you know where its missing and what you need to do.
I had a 8-2-2 (sold 2 bikes with 1 ad). In March in TX I did a 1-1-1 after the first ad resulted in a clown crashing the bike on the test drive. I fixed it, rode it a few weeks and sold it in 3 days. CL is very good, price it right and it works well.

i wish i could, but i need the cash. its not about money, id rather see someone else enjoy than me have it and not want it. i have lost all interest in owning it and just wish someone would buy it and enjoy it. it takes up space in my garage and i ride just cause i dont want to see it sit there.

Jackstand Johnny

Sorry to hear you having to sell it for so much less than what you think it's worth. I really wish I could help you out man, I think this bike is great. IF I wasn't unemployed I'd probably be on my way to paypalling you my difference left on my credit card.

bobbyg1243

dont be sorry, its only money guys. haha it just sucks for me being in a tight spot and needing the $$$ so soon. my loss, someone elses gain. i would say i got my moneys worth for the time i rode it.

bobbyg1243

oh and its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not what i think its worth. i had a high asking price, but thats only because i have so much into it.

The Buddha

Put it on CL with a price that you think it will sell in a couple days.

Honestly, some mods have a negative value ... like a matt black paint job. You have to think what will appeal to the masses who never have seen a GS ... yes, a stock GS is closest.

Pipe (some clowns like quiet, but most newb's on a GS are young kids, so loud always sells) and jetting followed by them cutie little windsheilds are the mods that do a good ROI.

Suspension mods are a big gamble, as are clip on's ... and the deeper and more $$ anything gets, the more drastic the saleable value does not carry. A $20 Jet job can get you over a 100, a $150 pipe will net you close to that 150, a $50 shock will maybe give you $50 at sale, and a $400 paint job will give you a -200. Rough example.

Appeal to the beginner in your area ... not to us.

pronator

I may have totally missed it, but where are you located? Maybe restating (or putting in title) will garner more interest?

Good luck!  :thumb:

no problem, i appreciate your input, it still went for stupid cheap. i pretty much gave it away for $1200. the kid i sold it to is still at school for another 3 weeks, has yet to see it in person. lol im going to drop it off at his house and his dad will give me the money.

cgoldhill

Honestly, I'd give 1800 if u could get it reasonably close to central jersey
