The time has come to let my bike go. I have come to realize that i just cant own this bike and it has to go. Here it goes...

The frame and title says its a 1990 Suzuki GS500. The motor is a 96 with an unknown mileage. When i first got the bike, the motor that was in it was a race motor (cams, valve springs, ignition advancer, heads shaved to .200, carbs were stage 2 jetted)

As it sits right now, it has a stock motor, stock carbs, pod filter, yoshimura exhaust.

also has a 636 tailight, the subframe was notched to fit a wider back tire, runs a 150 now, slightly wider than a stock one. i have an extra rear tire for it as well. tires on it now are Micheliin race pilots, used for about 1500 miles.

i removed the superbike bars and added clip-ons. also removed stock mirrors and added streetfighter mirrors.

mileage on the odometer says around 9k, but that was from the first rebuild on the old motor.

I still have the motor all the race parts, that motor spun a rod bearing and bent and intake valve. it will need to be fixed and rebuilt. i will include it in the sale as well. carbs are still in good condition, still jetted and recently rebuilt.

i just put on green led neons, new led plate lights and painted it flat black.

there is a small dent in the gas tank from the clip-ons hitting it, the muffler also has some minor rash on it, nothing that cant be sanded and polished.

on to the pictures....

asking 2800. Im looking for a quick sale, but keep your lowballs to yourself, im really not going to flex too much on the price.

You got 45lbs of junk on your motorcycle key ??? you ever suddenly cut out going round a corner ... my vulcan did few years ago, all I had on its key chain was a cutie little VW bug about the size of a stack of quarters. Confused the crap out of me for ~20 mins.

Big Shot

Cops ever give you any trouble on the placement of your license plate?

bobbyg1243

nope, they are too busy giving me trouble for my speed and the ability to not keep it on the track.

yeah this one seems to work only because i had to have the top triple clamp taken to the machine shop. they shaved off the bottom clamp for the old bars and i had to drop the whole triple. the clip-ons wouldnt fit under it because of the headlght bracket.

You say you are looking for a quick sale.. i think you may need to half your price  Even $1400 is a stretch.

Not trying to be rude but your price is not on par w/ the year and condition

Very cool looking GS though. Good luck w/ the sale

i would like you to show me a gs in this condition with this amount of work done to it for that price. until then, im going with 2800. theres far more work involved than you think, do the research and you will soon find out. if i get an offer i like, i might take it, but 1400? come on you have to be kidding me.

edit- i understand the year is an issue, but the fact is, the motors and many various parts on this bike have never changed, by saying that its a 1990 has nothing to do with it. theres hardly anything left from the 1990 model on this bike to even justify that statement.

Nice bike but given the choice this is where I'd spend my hard earned $$.

So it has a stock motor in it now? Was the race motor in it when you bought it?
SV1000K3 Bought 03/17/09
1996 GS500E Sold 03/03/09

bobbyg1243

it came with the race motor, lasted 3 weeks, spun a rod bearing. i was going to fix it and rebuild it since it has the all the parts still with it. either that or drop them in this motor, but i just dont have the time nor can i keep the bike.

Just as an example - I sold that bike with a nice 89 black body for $1700. In fact the guy paid me on tuesday, gave me till friday to finish it, was very polite and was really smart in buying what was right for him, and he was nice through the whole thing even when things went against him. Sorry I dont have pics of it fixed up right now ...

It was not in the same league as Dgyvers - that is a work of art, but it had a Kat FE and all my mods on the kat parts to fit it right. I needed a quick sale and maybe I could have squeezed another couple 100 out of it, but I am happy and so is he. Other than the Kat FE it was almost all stock, slip on pipe and jetting, coated tank and mismatched wheels (though we may swap to a matched set at a later date). Sorry I dont have better pics, but its the run of the mill Kat FE GS with 17K miles.
Cool.
