You should. Do you have a knob on the left hand side of your bike? It should say res, Pri, and On. I've never heard of a GS that doesn't have a reserve I mean you can alter the petcock but I still don't think that get's rid of the reserve!

I could see 100 miles to reserve, but not 100 miles to empty, unless you aren't filling the tank all the way up, which is pretty easy to do.

Nah, eliminated the vacuum on the petcock and yeah, I filled up a few days ago, trip meter was at 301 and bike started doing the perculator at 401. Ben2go, you want to chime in; i thought the reserve was eliminated with the mod that was done to the petcock.

Doesn't the '90 gas tank hold less than the later ones?

Keep in mind josh that I have the same tanik you have. I've done the F conversion on my 90. Which has it's draw backs because I swear theres atleast 1/2 gal left in there that the carbs don't get.

Sounds to me like you're only hooked-up to the ON side of the fuel valve at the tank.  That would give you no reserve.  The bike would run out of gas with a gallon left in the tank.  Your bike is still sucking gas like a car though.  14-tooth sprocket and you never go past 4th gear?

Stock sprockets with 150s and wileyco pipe, srinath flange and lunchbox. I always smell gas but never see it. I'll definetly have to look into that.

How did you do the mod If you only have a shut off valve then you should be hooked up to both ports on the tank then into a SOV then into the carbs. if you did the epoxy and turn the insides of the stoker than you set up should be om reserve and off. you may have did something wrong

You've told us that you ran the tank to "empty" but how much gas did you put in it when you filled it back up? I'm betting on a combination of "not hooked up to reserve like you thought" and "not filling the tank all the way" here, that could easily account for all your problems.

natedawg120

yeah but even if he is filling the tank to the neck and no more, he should still be going for more than a 100 miles.  Average your gs eats more gas than my GSXR and that just ain't right.

Eh, when I first got my '94 I wasn't filling the tank all the way (filling on the side stand, filling to the filler but not waiting for the tank vent to let the air out) and also riding poorly (35 mpg, lots of high revving and stuff, I was new) and I would go 100 miles and hit reserve. Now I get way further by filling on the centerstand and just riding with better technique. My mileage average has gone up 10 miles per gallon through smoother technique alone. If you under fill the tank by just a half gallon, you're already loosing 25 to 30 miles of range....

Its getting into the filter on acceleration. Check, clean and set floats at a minimum.
Man we need to poke the werase into a get together.
