Upper handlebar clamp

Anyone know if the upper handler clamp from a US 1990-2000 GS500 will fit a Canadian 2006 GS500F? Did the upper handler clamp ever changed? I checked their part numbers online. The numbers are different but from the photos they look the same.

The handle bar diameter hasn't changed since its birth in 89 so i think they are similar enough that they should work if they aren't exactly the same.
